How to Report Bugs - Read before posting!

Here are some simple steps to reporting bugs and crashes you find.

Note that it is always a good idea to back up your content.ggpk file. It will let you restore the game without downloading it all again if the client becomes corrupt.

1. Check the Known Issues thread.

2. Take a screenshot with debug info
Enter "/debug" into chat and then take a screenshot by pressing F8. The screenshot is saved to your Documents/My Games/Path of Exile folder.

3. If it is a graphical glitch, we also need your pc specs
Include Operating System (Windows version), RAM/Memory, Video card, and anything else relevant. Dxdiag is a good way to find all this information, and check if your graphics card is healthy. (Run > dxdiag)

4. Post it
If you post in the forums keep your title descriptive. If someone else has the same bug, post in there instead. We may not be able to reply, but we do check every post when we have the chance. The more descriptive your title, the greater chance it will be noticed and fixed, and the easier our jobs are!

If you can't get a screenshot, we need as much as you can tell us about reproduction steps. The zone you were in, the skills you were using, the monsters you were fighting - Anything that might provide a reason for the problem.

If you get a Client or Instance crash, we receive a report automatically the next time you start your client. Report it here in a thread only if you have reproduction steps that will let us find the problem.

Important! Make sure you only have one bug per report. We want to be able to resolve reports if bugs are fixed, or have others be able to respond to bugs easily.

Also, confirm that there are no other threads reporting this issue, and post your bug in there if that is the case. More reports are always good, but only if they are in one place, rather than spread over many different threads. To search only the Bug Reports forum, put this at the start of your search in google, as this will only show the posts from the Support and Bug Reports forum:

Need to add a screen shot to your post, but don't know how or don't know which site to use?

Look no further!

The preferred site to use is imgur. It requires no signup or login and is completely free.

Linkage: http://imgur.com/

After you hit the above link, you are then greeted with this:

Click that big green New post button. After you have done so, you will see this next popup:

There are 3 options here. Drag and drop an image to the window, or click browse to find the image you want. Pick which ever option you want to at this point. The paste option will only bring images over from another URL.

If you use the "browse" option, your screen shots are located, in most instances, in your: C:\Users\XXXXX\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile\Screenshots where XXXXX is your username. If you are selecting multiple images to upload, hold the Ctrl button while left clicking the images you want. This will select them all. Just click on open, and your images will be uploaded!

If you use the drag and drop method, you will see this:

Once you have the image dragged over, just release your mouse button, and it will automatically upload the file.

Note: There is no longer an option to paste images directly from your clipboard.

When uploading a single or multiple images, pay attention to 2 things. There will be a green bar across the top as well as a green bar / % indicator of how far along your uploads are. Do not do anything until the process is fully completed.

It will look like this:

At this stage, your image(s) are fully uploaded to imgur.

In the middle of your screen is (are) the image(s) that you uploaded. Along the right hand side of each image, you will see a "down arrow" box. Click on the down arrow, and you will see this:

Click on the "Get share links" link. You will then see this:

The link that you want to copy is the BBCode(Forums) one.

Note:You can only do this for one image at a time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You are now ready to come to the forums and post your screen shot!

Whether you are editing a post or creating a new one does not matter. Simply click anywhere in the Content field or click where you want your image to be placed. At this point, all you have to do is hit cntl+v.

Note: If you did it right, it should look like this:

If you want to, a good idea is to always hit the preview button (this way you can make sure you did it right and the image will actually show in your post), otherwise hit the submit button once you are finished with your post.

There, you have just uplaoded a screen shot to the forums. :)
