Doomfletch's Prism Royal Bow question
So quick question for someone that may know the math behind it.
I have a Harbinger that with Ice Shot, does 100k tooltip damage with all pots activated and Vaal Haste going. However, when I have Doomfletch's Prism and attempt to do the same, the damage goes from 100k~ to 34k~ with pots and Vaal Haste. The thing is, they look like they do just as much damage as each other. So where Fletch has the "Gain 110% of bow physical damage as extra damage of each element", I'm wondering does that show on the tooltip damage or not? Because I feel like it doesn't, but if it does, how does it do just as much damage as my Harbinger? Last bumped on Jan 9, 2017, 8:55:38 PM

" it doesn't (I believe the reason is because it is a modification of Doomfletch's mod, which is randomised, and the tooltip generally does not add randomised things to it, like with Wild Strike or Elemental Hit) Need game info? Check out the Wiki at: https://www.poewiki.net/

Gotcha. So I'd have to figure out how much my elemental multipliers boost up the mods damage to figure out how much it actually does on average? It's throwing me for a loop currently.

" Yes, hmm, I could give it a shot if you'd like. All done. Sorry for the delay I had to return to work earlier. I'm good now though.

Looking at your gear, my gut feeling is that you should probably stick with the rare Harbinger; you don't have such an easy source of dealing with elemental resistances, so Prism would be more unreliable. You also have Drillneck, a fair amount of double dip, and Snakebite, which indicates there is a lot of off-tooltip Poison contributing to your damage, and of course Elemental Damage doesn't contribute to Poison base.
That said, maybe Prism is more your style, maybe you enjoy the status ailments and/or don't mind suddenly taking 4 times as long to kill an enemy and/or using Elemental Weakness instead of Assassin's mark. Actually, it turns out that you don't really need to do any calculation, because I totally forgot/didn't notice that you were talking about Ice Shot and Physical to Lightning, which means that your elemental bonuses are already reflected in tooltip. Which makes me scratch my head why you're using Snakebite; Ice Shot + PtL and Blast Rain + PtL both deal zero physical damage, which means that you can't use Snakebite for Poison the way most people do o__________O Or maybe you were just doing Ice Shot + PtL to help tooltip calculation for Prism, in which case, good job! You just multiply tooltip by 4.3 (1.0 for base plus 1.1 for each element, or a total of +3.3), so, using your given tooltip of ~34k, your "actual tooltip" for Prism would be ~146.2k
accounting work not needed
Elemental Damage increase, AKA bonus not reflected in tooltip: 60% Sum of increases already reflected in tooltip: 20% increased Attack 75% increased Projectile 24% increased physical Attack 56% increased physical 183% increased physical bows 100% increased Projectile (Drillneck) 23% increased physical (Dory's Inv) Total: 20+75+24+56+183+100+23 = 481% Need game info? Oh awesome! That's pretty good, but seeing your math on here it probably is best if I stay on the Harbinger.
As for the snakebite, I had it before switching over to Ice Shot. I used to use Tornado Shot, but the damage output to clear rooms was a lot slower. Probably keeping TS for single target bosses though. Thank you so much! |
