How do you get from act 1 to act 2, if you already have waypoints in act 2

Is it possible to throw a portal scroll down in act 1 to get to act 2? if you accidentally through a portal scroll in act 2 and went back to act 1, can you reverse that mistake?

This shouldn't be a problem.
Just use the waypoint in act 1 - you automatically have the first waypoint in act 2 once you have entered it. Online delenda est:

You probably got confused since using a portal in the first area of a new act (before you've discovered the town) will send you to the previous town. If the portal already disappeared you can use the waypoint to return. Just select the appropriate act from the top.

Go to any waypoint and change the tab to the act you need up the top. The same is true for different difficulties.
