Gladiator Outmatch and Outlast + Gratuitous Violence

It is fairly frustrating that there is still a negative interaction interaction between these two ascendancy nodes for Gladiator. It has been this way for several patches and never been addressed.

Gratuitous Violence: Bleeding Enemies you Kill Explode, dealing 10% of their Maximum Life as Physical Damage

Outmatch and Outlast: 25% chance to gain a Frenzy Charge on Kill with Main Hand, 25% chance to gain an Endurance Charge on Kill with Off Hand

Because the bleed explosions end up killing the majority of mobs, outmatch and outlast very rarely generates charges. Even with a high clearspeed build, it is not possible to maintain max frenzy charges reliably.

Either the bleed explosions should proc outmatch and outlast, which i think is a technical issue (bug). Or if that is not possible, change it to function similar to blood frenzy, which does actually generate charges from the bleed explosions. If none of this is possible, change the node to 100% chance to generate charges as a temporary fix.

It would be nice if the ascendancy node actually fulfilled its purpose, which is generating charges. The fact that it doesn't do that only when you take another node makes the ascendancy tree feel bad and clunky.

True, but that is just flavor.

The real meat and potatoes of stout ass is the 10% MORE physical damage and 10% less taken.

That said it would be nice if they were changed to be like 10% on kill, regardless of source.



While we are at it. Saboteur node layout is still stupid. Chain reaction still triggers all bear traps :|.

The problem is you cant maintain charges without a secondary source if you are relying on the bleed node.

Also, I would also argue that the real purpose of the node is charge generation, since it was originally just that. They only added the more/less damage several patches after, since no one ever took the node. But since its been bugged since the start, and never generated charges, why would people take it.

Now you spec into it for the more/less modifiers, and generate charges through other means (blood frenzy etc.). Which is annoying, since one of the purposes of the node is to provide charge generation.

Again, its just annoying because of the negative interaction between the two ascendancy nodes, where one makes the other not function properly.

How is it bugged? For GGG, bugs are only things that don't do what they say they do.

I agree about the weird internal conflicts the node setup makes, it's weird design, very similar to Deadeye where many of its nodes defeat each other.

The current "solution" is that if you want O+O for charge generation, you skip Blood in the Eyes (or use Bloodlust). It's perfectly possible to spec 8 pts into gladiator without taking the bleed path.

But in general I agree with greater build freedom, it would be nice if the blood explosions could count as hand damage.

Has this been changed or is it still working unfavorably? I noticed a lot of high ranked gladiators took both. I've been avoiding the bleed path but corpse explosion from enemies is a pain in the arse.

I finally make a Gladiator and this is what I'm met with. An interaction this terrible in an Ascendancy class, especially when it's in segments that are very likely to be taken together, shouldn't happen. If it does happen, it definitely shouldn't stay that awful for over a year.

Please update this to be worthwhile. Playing Dual Strike, I've been able to kill upwards of a hundred consecutive enemies without gaining a single charge of either type. That's ridiculous. Almost everything dies to bleed explosions which are completely worthless for gaining charges.

The fix mentioned above, having a 100% chance to gain charges instead of 25%, would be optimal and would also keep the dual wielding flavor.

Please make this not suck, GGG. Ascendancy trees don't deserve interactions this bad.
It’s the same issue with contagion and profane bloom. Corpse explosions have a lot of unexpected anti synergies :(.
