[Music] The Eternal Dream
Hi there,
I recently saw a huge musical response to the showcase art competition, which inspired me to start writing a piece of my own in my very limited spare time. Please don't expect this to be done quickly or with professional virtual instruments, I have limited access to such things but I will do what I can with the mixing to make it sound more authentic :) I have described below part of my process and links to versions i have created over time. UPDATE [19.11.16] - Posting a first version tomorrow of all sections pre-mix. I still have some work to do on the piece, mainly tidying up the score and revising a few chord structures but the main framework is done. If I have time, I will create a basic mix of this version that should help identify individual instruments more clearly. UPDATE [20.11.16]- Demo has been posted of a mixed version of what is a mostly complete piece. Please let me know if you find any issues with the mix or accessing the piece. I will also eventually post a Youtube video but due to my internet speed, I don't want to do so until it is complete since it will take a day to upload. The Eternal Dream For this piece I used my favorite pieces of the soundtrack as my inspiration; the title screen piece 'Path of Exile' and 'Dried Lake'. Instrumentation taken from 'Path of exile' includes the Piano, bass and drums. Dried Lake is a less direct inspiration that gave me the guideline for the 'empty' feeling, which the piece starts with. ==============================RECORDINGS=============================== Here is the first recording of the first demo: https://soundcloud.com/einaris/the-eternal-dream Here is a demo of the piece in it's final stages of development and some mixing: https://soundcloud.com/einaris/eternal-dream-demo-2 Please note that the mixing is the last thing that I will be doing so until then, it will sound fairly rough and instruments will sound more fake than in the final version. =========================================================================== Lastly, I do not have a huge amount of time to do this. I work most of the day for 5-7 days a week which usually ends up being 6-7. I am also going to New Zealand in January so I want to complete the piece before then. I will keep updating this post when I have significant progress or revisions to previously posted recordings. Any suggestions or comments would be much appreciated. If you want to know more about anything, just ask! Last edited by Incarcerated#2029 on Nov 19, 2016, 4:09:57 PM Last bumped on Nov 18, 2016, 7:37:31 PM
