The Tempest. Elemental Bow Build.

Only three unique items of gear are required to make this build work & these are The Tempest Long Bow, Worm Essence Unset Ring & Voice of the Storm.
Unavailable

We place a Wrath Gem in our Worm Essence which is our main source of damage.

With a different path on the passive tree you could use Alpha's Howl rather than the ring and run two buffed auras.

This amulet & it's upgrade Choir of Storms allow us to become a decent crit build.
Unavailable

Because we're a non-physical build which scales flat elemental damage it doesn't matter which bow skill we use. Most are equally effective. Tornado Shot is the best all rounder, it doesn't need a separate single target skill. Unlike Lightning Arrow. At the moment I'm using Lightning Arrow for mob clearing & Barrage as my single target. You could, with a tweak to the skill tree, use barrage with one or maybe two Volley Fire jewels. Which would result in great at AoE & single target damage.

As we are using Voice of the Storm it makes sense to run a Purity of Lightning Aura as it will help to boost your critical strike chance with the amulet & reduce damage from reflect. Running Wrath & Purity of Lightning leaves room for Herald of Thunder.

Passive tree to level 74. As this is still in progress things may change.

Greetings fellow exiles,
Introduction
This build is an attempt to use Barrage with a bow that's not CoC or uses any physical conversion. Basically 'pure' Elemental. I could use Lighting Arrow & possibly gain superior dps but reflect would hurt a lot more & the skill has been done to death in builds. I also just wanted to build around The Tempest Long Bow with a flat damage skill like Barrage. Think of this build as a bow version of Elemental Spectral Throw.

Only two unique items of gear are required. These are The Tempest long bow & Worm Essence unset ring.

The Worm Essence greatly boosts our Wrath gem

Which in tandem with our bow provides our high elemental damage for the build. We supplement our single Aura with two Heralds

To further boost our damage output we utilise unique jewels. Static Electricity & one or two Volley Fire (you don't need two of these as one gives you good AoE especially with the mandatory Ranger Deadeye Ascendancy's Ricochet passive which gives us Chain at no damage cost!).

Where to place Jewels
The Static Electricity jewel goes in the node to the left Vaal Pact. One Volley Fire goes in the slot above the Blood Drinker notable & a second, if needed, goes in the jewel slot near the Heartseeker passive. Both Volley Fire jewels require 50 dexterity allocated if you use a second one you need to take Depth Perception for it's +20 Dex. Which to be honest is a waste of points & is the reason I only use one Volley Fire Jewel.

Barrage is our attack of choice, as it has no physical scaling it works perfectly with our bow & elemental base. It is quick and with the Volley Fire gem has good AoE. It's also good enough as our single target skill. We support Barrage like this.

If you have a six-link I'd add either of these gems.

To finish off our offence we use Frenzy Charges. Frenzy is essential as it provides so much extra damage & attack speed. The floating green orbs are just icing on the cake!
Our Frenzy Charges can be generated with Blood Rage especially if you're running a map with the Hexproof mod but our lack of good life regeneration might hurt.

Otherwise we gain Frenzy Charges with Poachers Mark in a Curse On Hit setup.

Other gem options

Vaal Haste isn't really an option, It's so good it's virtually mandatory! It just gives so much movement & attack speed it's crazy for us.

A great utility gem is Blink Arrow. Very useful for getting away from trouble, distracting the enemy & super useful in the Labyrinth. Every bow build should have this.

A really nice quality of life gem is Portal. No more need for Portal Scrolls ever!

You need to link Increased Duration with Vaal Haste. Blink Arrow benefits from a longer duration too. Faster Projectiles is a must for Blink Arrow as it 'casts' it faster, just what you need to escape a punch from Dominus!

Defensively High Evasion, movement speed & Acrobatics is what we rely on to avoid attacks & stay alive, of course like every other build we run Cast When Damage Taken with Immortal Call.

We also benefit from leech via Vitality Void that keeps our life topped up, but we don't take Vaal Pact as we attack so fast it won't make much difference.

This build is quite demanding for Intelligence so you might have to get it from the tree as well as from gear. As you need life, resists & flat elemental damage on your gear you may have to forgo additional unique items. But if your rare gear allows for extra unique items I'd recommend these;

If you want speed & damage this gear combo is great.

While Rat's Nest is generally Bis for many bow builds this is perfect for ours. It has attack speed, movement speed & wings. What more can you want? Oh & some Chaos resist. Plus the 10% Reduced Physical Damage doesn't affect us!

Ondar's Clasp appear underwhelming if not Vendor Trash but look again. 30% Increased Attack Speed on Full Life. 30% Increased Attack Speed is huge! We are going to be full life most of the time so this a massive boost to our dps. The added lightning is nice as is the accuracy.

These items of gear are a more sensible option as the dodge helps to avoid those dangerous attacks.

Hyrri's Ire provides nice dodge bonuses which in tandem with Acrobatics, Phase Acrobatics & high evasion helps to avoid so many attacks. Nice! Plus the 3D art looks great in a gladiatorial way.

If you're wearing Hyrri's Ire & dodging left, right & centre it makes sense to wear Atziri's Step Slink Boots for the juicy 15% to dodge spell damage. Add a huge 30% increased movement speed to help running away from melee mobs plus life & you have wonderful footwear (pity there are no resists but that would just be greedy).

Bandit Rewards
Oak for Life. Kraitlyn for Extra Attack Speed. Kraitlyn for Extra Frenzy Charges.

To be updated sometime...

Isn't the %Attack Damage mod on the Barrage gem also apply to Elemental Damage as it does not specify that its Physical Attack Damage?
As I understand it that's the case. I guess Tornado Shot & Split Arrow work the same & would work with this build.

Looks like a good, if not better, option.
