Voltaxic Rift - i don't understand why it's good

Can someone explain to me why this is considered a good item?
I never had one, but looking at the stats i just don't really understand why it's so 'godly'.

Sure you lighting is converted into chaos, which might mean stuff like skipping most resists, and having strong poisons. but what else?

Also, when you see lighting self-cast use it, does the added lightning apply to spells? if not, agian - how is this so 'godly'?

This is the best character I have EVER built.

Almost 6k life, immune to reflect, chaos damage bypasses all resistance mods in maps (maps cannot roll chaos resist but individual creatures do have higher chaos resist than others), insane AOE allowing me to clear tier 12+ maps in 5-10 minutes. Due to poison all increases to chaos damage "double dips".

Voltaxic is the key item in this build.
Well you said it yourself, immune to reflect so you can do more map mods than the same build with a windripper, you ignore resists, which are the biggest problem for elemental builds in the end game.
Voltaxic really got it's shine from the recent tree update in December when poison and the new chaos nodes came out. But even before it was really good, especially with lightning arrow and full pierce. Players were still making caster builds really powerful even before the update. Chaos damage in general in just really good. Why do you think consuming dark and infernal mantle are so popular?
the only reason it's good it's because "Ziggy said so" its newbie friendly crap which is shity at end-game maps, like most of what ziggy release.

Nothing wrong whatsoever with newbie friendly crap. Most builds have problems of some sort or other and require a number of measures to get around them, an item like Voltaxic allows you to skip some of those at the expense of lower power ceiling. So, to a build that properly covers all its bases it wouldn't be a good option, but for those that don't it's a godly item.

Similar to using a Myolner if you can't afford a fakener or just don't want to bother.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I honestly think you have no idea what you're talking about. Shitty at end game maps? Is that why Mathil could do Vinktar's Square with it? And other various end-game related content?
Full chaos damage, which means ee/reflect/resist on maps or mobs dont bother you. Tooltip dps with good ele bow is better, real dps with voltaxic is better because of these things

"Your chaos damage can shock". You always apply shock with crit. Free 50% more total chaos damage which is on most of the time, this just fucking obliterates bosses

Void manipulation gem. Free MORE chaos multiplayer on top of wed, pure ele bows dont have anything like that (besides ele focus which is garbage cause no shock on crit)

Atziri flask gives 2% leech from all of your damage

A lot of good chaos nodes appeared on tree. Poison gem is insane with blast rain. Ele bows dont have poison

I played with both windripper and voltaxic in 2.1. Both have their pros and cons, but If I were to choose only one, I would definetely go with voltaxic

If you think voltaxic is bad, go and watch mathil videos from these 40 deathless uber runs he made with this bow

Newbie friendly crap, compared to what lol? Legacy windripper with legacy gear or glyph mark?

lower power ceiling

In my experience, with the constant power creep and op skills like Blast Rain in the case of bow builds the power ceiling starts to matter less and less. What matters more is the ability to faceroll as many map mods as possible for sustain and drops while minimizing the chance of dying. This has nothing to do with being a newbie.
