The price and quality of Empower gems?

I am new, can someone explain the various factors for this gem's price to me?
I look the gem up and there are some for like 3 chaos and there are some for like 50 chaos... Some are corrupted, some are quality, etc, etc. What does this gem do when corrupted? What does quality do to that gem? What is a good entry level version of that gem to buy and what is it worth? Thank you. Last bumped on Mar 26, 2016, 8:13:48 PM

Empower is a special gem that becomes useful only at level 4. Its maximum level is however only 3. Therefore the only way to attain level 4 is to corrupt it which has a really low chance of success.
Here is the tricky part though. Empower levels up slower than other gems, to attain level 3 empower is the time taken roughly to level a character to level 100. |

The answer to quality becomes obvious then. The gem levels up faster with better quality. The correct way to deal with empower gem is to simply buy them for 5 chaos or pick them up and get about 6-8 of them. Socket all of them and play the game like no tomorrow. One day all of them will reach level 3 eventually. Corrupt them all, if you get a level 4 empower you earn about 15 exalts. If not, your luck is out. Lol

The average is 1 out of 20 corrupts for a successful one. Good luck!

Leveling an Empower from 1 to 2, at 0% Quality (20%q doubles the speed it levels) is roughly a little less than leveling a normal Gem from 1 to 20.
Level 2 to 3 takes about 10x longer. It's useless at Level 1, marginally useful (only in a +1 Item) at Level 2, and finally becomes good/decent at Level 3. And the Godly Level 4 is when it becomes REALLY amazing. Level 3 is the max Level it can be leveled to, thus the only way to get Level 4, as Deadpeng said, is to Vaal it and pray. And Corrupting a Gem can lower or increase the Level by 1, do nothing, or change the quality up or down. Thus the prices you're seeing are based on those factors. A Corrupted one will be worth way less, and Uncorrupted will be worth more; higher leveled ones will be worth more, etc. As an example, right now, Level 1 Uncorrupted on Perandus Standard is like 10c, and Level 2 like 40c. As for a nice entry level one, I'd personally go for a Corrupted Level 3, since they're a fraction of the price of a normal Level 3, and thus get you good bang for your buck. As an additional tip, I'd recommend investing into a Level 1 and just leveling it on a Weaponswap, in about a week or so it should be Level 2, and you can then sell it for ~3-4x your investment. It's quite a nice and assured way to make money for grinding/leveling. One last tip: Don't Corrupt them yourself, on average you LOSE value when you Corrupt an Empower, given the prices on them. " Np. And like I mentioned, putting an Empower in a +1 Level of Gems Item is quite powerful, and generally the best time to use an Empower. (Since both the Active Skill Gem AND the Empower, get +1, so it's effectively +2) It's quite useful on Skills that scale really well with levels (for example Arc gains not only extra Damage, but extra Chains) or those that don't have much Support Gem options, and is really powerful while leveling (Level 2 Empower requires level 10, Level 3 requires level 45. So using a lv.2 and a Reverberation Rod is some pretty OP leveling.) There is almost no reason to use a level 4 empower for the majority of spell builds outside of staff builds which are sub par compared to dagger/shield.

I'm not sure I understand correctly...
Am I right in thinking that a level 1 corrupted empower is worthless? I see them for sale for cheaper than non-corrupted level 1 and I'm just wondering why that is the case. If you buy a level 1 corrupted, can you get it up to level 4? |
