Dying yesterday against an overcharged izarro in the cruel lab

You messed up there and it was entirely on you, did you expect the game not to punish you for it?

Well, the irony is: I like the izarro fight design. Its in terms of poe boss designs a better one. Only the discharged version seems out place for me. But yesterday it was wierd, I got some lagging or maybe I was just tired.

The problem is not izarro, the problem is the lab design.

Right, haven't heard many people say Izzy is a bad boss, that's why it was strange seeing you complain.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Do you know how much work it normally takes to farm up for a Shaper's Realm? If you just mess up his orb placement your whole run is botched.

I have never killed the shaper or even tried it. I can really live with that. But for building up a more or less complete character I have to do the labs. This is a huge difference for me at least.

It does make sense, though, the game tries to coach you into watching your step because mistakes tend to be costly later on. Hell, just dying once at high level in any situation is more time lost on XP grinding than it takes to reach Izzy again.

It effort Eternals expended to improve the traditional Azmeri labyrinth trial some jackalope just strode in and asked to become a supreme&omnipotent ruler without running it. Talk about anticlimactic.

Hogwash.
This is the weakest (I do not want to call it stupid) argument defending the lab
1* If I have to choose consistent role vs better gameplay, the choice obvious. Fixing broken game design, is more important than full adherence to the lore
2* Heck, if you want to be 100% consistent with the lore, it may be explained in this way:
"Azmeri secretly built shortcut to Ascendancy chamber, to reward clever people, who can be smart enough to find this shortcut. Izaro found this passage, he is afraid that we want to prison him again, so he fights with us."
Voila, we are good with lore again!

TL:DR Lore can never be an excuse for a bad design
"War's over, soldier. You just don't know it yet. Everybody lost."

Nah, Azmeri weren't even around at the time, Izzy just nicked the idea from the history books and then employed the Imperial Construction Co. (the ones that did the aqueducts) to build one for him. He probably had them executed afterwards to prevent any alpha build leaks, I would.

Eeenyway, the whole thing reminds a lot of the real life scenario, devs spent all that time and money to give us a way to earn the ascendancy and then some hop in and say 'we want it for free' or 'we want to do something else'. Where are your role playing instincts people? When someone gives you a chance for a big powerup you take it and do whatever is necessary, you don't have the luxury to haggle.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions to GGG. To summarize, your feedback seems to be that GGG should have a huge charge for allowing Feedback and Suggestion postings since you don't think we should have the "luxury" of providing Feedback and Suggestions. Or perhaps I'm misunderstanding and you're saying that the whole Feedback and Suggestions forum should be deleted to make it clear that there is no feedback or suggestions allowed?
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

If I want to focus on Role Play I will play Pillars Of Eternity (or even better D&D with some friends), not Path of Exile.

BTW My idea was quick (created in about 10 sec). Somebody who knows lore better, will come up with something more suitable
"War's over, soldier. You just don't know it yet. Everybody lost."
Anything can be done with 'lore' to make things make better sense. Heck, look at that last lore nugget from raics for example. :)

What? Separating Ascendancy from the lab is a real solution
* Lab is profitable farming area for people who like it
* People who do not like lab do not have to run it.

Win-win scenario

Except you're not ascending if you don't run the lab, hence the name Ascendancy points.

Except, you should've read what I wrote there.
If AP are separated from lab you are running lab if you like this kind of content, not because you are forced to.
Or other solution.
Gives option only to fight Izaro for AP. No loot, no XP, nothing except AP. Easy to implement and resolves problems.

Except you're missing my point.

You should run the Lab for AP, otherwise, like I said, you're not ascending.
It's not a tomb you're pillaging for loot, it's a trial of Ascendancy. No trial, no AP. Simple.
Carry on my waypoint son, there'll be peace when maps are done.
Lay your portal gem to rest, don't you die no more.

'Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this league.
Try to make maps meet, you're a slave to the meta, then you leave.
