SET FREE THE ASCENDANCY POINTS (or rework the lab) [New ascension methods/lab rework ideas]
I agree. I hate the fact that I have to the lab when I'm not really prepared for it. Until merc, you only get lousy enchants and lousy loot so there is literally no point in running it for anything other than the Ascendancy points. My characters can handle merc lab by themselves later at full keys, but that rarely happens when I only have cruel Ascendancy points.
I don't mind when I run the lab because I choose to do so. However being forced to do so takes almost all the fun out of it. I also hate the fact that I somehow have to procure an Offering to the Goddess for Uber Lab solely for the Ascendancy points. I feel like if my character can't do Uber lab, it really shouldn't be in Uber, but due to the ascendancy points being coupled to the lab, my character is forced to enter Uber lab anyway. I think getting the Ascendancy points should be tied to story progression. I know some people think that's just a power creep, but the reality is that a lot of people pay for lab carries because they can't do the lab themselves or just don't want to bother and simply rush through the game. In the end, they still end up with maximum ascendancy points without fighting Izaro so there is no real difference between getting them naturally through the story or getting them from the lab. For some people who might claim "I don't want my ascendancy points for ... x reason", you don't have to allocate them. |

" Even if that's true, and I'm not saying it is, what makes you think that means anything? There are so many factors at work here that a forum post can't possibly ever be counted as real evidence of something. The number of people against the lab are still so extremely few compared to the amount of players the game has, and it's commonly known that mostly those who seek to rant or fix a problem come looking for the forums. There are games that literally have their forums filled with negative rants and death threats and yet the game is massively popular and doing really well. If anything, the amount of rants here indicates how well the game is doing, I'd get more worried if there were really fewer of you. So sure, there may only be a few of us who don't agree with you, but we're the minority standing up to a minority, of which the majority is gathered here. You're absolutely right in what you say, but it doesn't say a thing about the actual numbers or the effect you may have on the future of the game as a result of that. Carry on my waypoint son, there'll be peace when maps are done.
Lay your portal gem to rest, don't you die no more. 'Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this league. Try to make maps meet, you're a slave to the meta, then you leave. |

" What? Separating Ascendancy from the lab is a real solution * Lab is profitable farming area for people who like it * People who do not like lab do not have to run it. Win-win scenario "War's over, soldier. You just don't know it yet. Everybody lost."

" Except you're not ascending if you don't run the lab, hence the name Ascendancy points. Carry on my waypoint son, there'll be peace when maps are done.

" Everyone can do the lab themselves, they simply choose not to because they don't give a fuck about learning the mechanics of the fight, understanding how to mitigate trap damage, ect. And AC is tied to story progression, the trials are implemented throughout the story, the lore is implemented throughout the game. The lab isn't getting any further changes past what they already posted in the dev post for 3.0, yet people like turtle literally stop at nothing to push their bullshit agenda a year later. Giving feedback is one thing, compiling a massive shitpost of a list is another. https://youtu.be/T9kygXtkh10?t=285

" Congrats for err standing up for making people play bad content to prove a point that gaming is not meant to be errr fun? but mandatory boring as hell work. |

" Isn't the point of the thread that devs should feel like utter failures whenever they don't manage to please everybody and his cat and that no expense should be spared until everyone is happy? Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Yes. They should strive to do better. Fix what's broken.

" They certainly should strive to do better - next time. And they should also fix what's broken - if they can afford to do so. See? We disagree in minor details :) Of course, there's one more shaky point there - what exactly can be considered well and truly broken. For instance, the playerbase seems to have reached a tentative consensus that double dipping is indeed broken and I don't see that with the lab. It's something like the AoE situation, a certain number of players claims that covering most of the screen with AoE skills shouldn't be possible regardless of how much you invested in it, some say it should be possible with enough investment and some say it should even be piss easy. In that case we saw the design direction of the game align with the first group so a consensus wasn't even needed, you absolutely need it only if you want to force devs into something. wonder who came up with the lab when they insist on keeping it? Really makes your neurons spin.
Because it sure is a loved addition to the gaem. 514 pages now. Damn. The Hyperbomber for 2.6: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1879383
