Perandus Chest - This chest is locked

After killing off all the mobs the chest stays locked and cannot be opened.

Had no problems with these chests yesterday.

Did you kill the mob close to the chest? I had one where I ran away to not die and killed them all so far away that the souls did not get sucked into the chest to unlock it. That was my assumption of why it didn't unlock. Hmmm?

Just ran into another and noticed that the chest appeared to unlock prior to me killing all the mob, so maybe a certain number must get sucked in to unlock it and if it is too far away they are not doing that.

Tried to get the mob of the next one I found to chase me farther away to test the theory. They wouldn't. More hmmm?

OK, tested the theory again. Was able to get some to follow me away and they died without being sucked in. There were more and the chest unlocked after I killed more. There were some still alive when it appeared to unlock. I wonder if that is the mechanic of the chest and I haven't read that anywhere?

Yes it is.
And it is pretty obvious if you test it 2 times.

Killed monsters are indeed being "sucked into" Perandus Chest and that golden shine is fading until the chest is completely opened.
Remember, suffering is convenient.
That is why many people prefer it.
Happiness requires effort.

Hey guys, lets get this moved to bug reports forum.

When you experience this kind of stuff, can you remember to do a /bug command in game, and post your reports with the included report number and a screenshot

The same thing - here's the screenshot with a bug report number - https://monosnap.com/file/nZjWLvKmVy6vMPGK9rBewZW88I2fPS (the dead mobs are on the screen, close to the box, within line of sight - and the weirdest thing is while I was making the shot and writing this post, the box (after being idle for minutes) suddenly spawned about 10 mobs and then opened successfully.
Same here, From my screenshot I wonder why this is "too far" for the chest to pick up the souls.

Another thing to mention is that I've had this happen to me about 15 times in the past few days, and a few times the bodies where piled basically on top of the chest. Would say it started happening "often" around Thursday 3/10/2016

Not close enough to the box. You have to all but stand on it. Same thing for you Locust.

Same issue for me:

Report reference number 2,179,945,004. Mobs died half a screen away from the box, but they're all clearly visible within line of sight.
