Constant Lag in Maps

Been having constant lag while in maps for the past several days. Latency is fine in my hideout but when I join a map the game becomes unplayable. I can't run continuously and constantly stutter. When I cast something it will cast multiple times and continue casting while I try to move. I also freeze in place and then get booted to login. Opened a map just now and ran a WinMTR trace to the map server. It did not look good.

The packet loss on the third jump, would that be an issue with my ISP?

I took a screenshot of my latency in the map. It pings up to around 300-400 constantly with an occasional ping to over 1000ms. My normal ping on DC gateway is 25-35.
Latency in Map

Ran a trace to DC gateway and have almost 4 hosts with 100% packet loss.

The game is unplayable for me at the moment and I hope there is a way to resolve this.

Packet loss begins on hop 3, so you better call or email Verizon if you want this looked at. Even 8% packet loss would make most online games unplayable.
I've got the same problem with every Europe gateway.
I was able to solve the packet loss at hop 3 by having Verizon release the IP. Still not sure if the 4 non-responding hosts are an issue or if its normal.

Without going into too much detail, it's not that unusual to see some hops not respond.

The more important thing is how has the removal of packet loss impacted your game experience. Are you still seeing any problem in game?

Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet?

I ran a few maps today and everything seems to be back to normal.

Edit: The problem is back in certain maps on US gateways. London is ok.

Edit: Same thing is now happening to me on London gateway now.

Verizon does not even consider packet loss when diagnosing an issue. All they care about is the ping from the tracert in command prompt. The ping on the second hop is fine, it's the ~10% packet loss that is the problem, but they don't care about that. Releasing the IP only solved the issue for half a day.

Are you able to escalate this problem at all? Like get to 2nd level support?

Are you seeing this packet loss to other locations as well? Like maybe try 8.8.8.8 if you manage to get to 2nd level support. Maybe if you show packet loss is present to all locations, they may be a bit more helpful.

For the record I have the same exact issue. I also have verizon (Fios). They changed my IP for me this evening and the problem is still there.

I have switched to predictive mode and /OOSing like constantly and it is still choppy and terrible.

At this point not sure what to do.

Very frustrating as Verizon doesn't either know what to do or who to inform about "bad hops".

It's terrible on Texas gateway. I float from 15 to 30 and then randomly have a spike to 300-500...then suddenly back down.

I don't get it.
Create your own thread, and post the proper traces.

Perhaps someone here can tell them where the bad hops are.

I was also having the same packet loss issues while streaming on twitch.tv.

I spent over an hour on the phone with tech support today and finally was able to talk to one of the technicians. I sent him the logs and he said they would look into it. So they are supposed to call me back if they figure out the issue. He also let me know that the alter.net servers are owned by Verizon.

It's not looking too good though because he kept telling me packet loss is normal and it's only an issue when there is no response to a server.

I would imagine packet loss when browsing the web is alright but when you are playing a game like path, or streaming to twitch, it's very noticeable.
