Hall of Grandmasters : The Unique map (Dont try it)

So me and my buddy went into the Hall of GrandMasters, Promenade map lvl 71 as a lvl 85 Marauder stun build and lvl 88 witch arc build respectively.

So this is the 2nd unique map we decided to test on.

Well, it ended as crappy and as bullshit as the first unique map we tried, which is the Oba's Cursed Trove, Torture Chamber map lvl 74 that we tried a year ago. (Killed us instantly, should have googled the map first since we know dying is normal in POE, desync, instant death mods etc)

So here we are, entering the hall of grandmasters map. In the hall of heroes, we killed off the players that bought the grandmasters pack with ease on the first wave, second wave... and we thought,

Oh man this map is easy!

Wait.

Guess again.

On the 4th wave(or maybe the 5th? Can't remember),

They were circling us infront , behind, sideways, and if there was bottom and up, I'm pretty sure those exiles would be there too just to smash our heads in and fuck our days up.

I really do think this map is bullshit honestly, its a lvl 71 map, and we're both way over 85+ yet we got wrecked by it, period. We lasted less than 5 minutes yet losing more than 1 hour of our life due to experience loss.

I lost 40% experience and my friend lost 20% exp from this stupid map, and it remains an unfinished map.

Please GGG, keep it up with these "cool maps", I'm sure players with 200ex worth of gears would love to do this map you're doing for us since its soooo doable for every and each build out there. Yes, I am being sarcastic here.

On the other note, I think this expansion : the awakening could have been much better. Waiting for the expansion release was much more exciting than playing the expansion.

New areas to be played in act 4 was limited, and act4 itself is rather short and can be completed fast. I like Daresso's storyline, but the overall storyline of act4 was just o-k.

The game is also very lag when huge mobs appear, for example in jungle valley, when fighting the boss there'd be like 100 spiders in there. Weird, coz in diablo and some other mmorpg I didnt get the lag as I did in POE, it even triggered beep sound in my laptop. Talk about some massive codes running in there.

Race? Season points? Nah. Not my thing.

Sounds like you missed the memo for what the HoGM is all about...
The 352nd character to hit Level 100 in Standard
The 82nd character to hit Delve 1000 in Standard
I guess we did. :/

Do I really have to google everything up before trying them? where's the excitement in that :/

Besides that, currently only one wing is active AFAIK. But it seems like 2.0.2 is going to work on that.

BTW, Oba's Cursed Trove is great fun :). I have done it four times or so by now, it is a test of your clear speed though. It even says in the description that it becomes fatal after some time. Building a character that can run it is not that hard though.

The other maps are fun as well, I have tried all by now except for the Hall of Grandmasters and the Vaults of Atziri. The unique Strand map has a very annoying boss though.

Cool man, yeah, clearing speed is essential for the Oba's map. We took our leisure time in that map and was wondering what was the timer all about. Anddddd boom. dead. lol.

And now this happens.

I wonder what build that can actually do the HOGM map.

HOGM is a PVP map. PVE builds can't usually do it. If you don't play PVP and do well, you probably won't do well in HOGM.

Look, for Oba's you really cannot complain. It says in the description that "area becomes fatal after some time". Even as a non-native speaker, the meaning of that is pretty obvious to me. And you have several warnings, one of them being pretty obviously the half-time-warning, and you get 10 seconds at the end to portal out if your clear speed is not high enough.

Basically this Sicarius.

This map was designed by players(well the units inside of it) so naturally they are "pvp" oriented since they know who will be attempting this map.(other players)

As such it's a really sweet map i imagine if your trying to master PVP or are finishing up a PVP oriented character.

It basically allows you to do a little test-run with the character without the requirement of needing other pvp people directly.

There are characters in there that are quite literally wearing multiple mirrors in slot. Don't feel entirely bad if you get #Rekt by them :').

Out of all the unique maps though, this is the only one that's pvp oriented. Which makes it belong into the unique category even more. It's a niche experience, which is what these maps should be about in my opinion.

As long as Cast When Damage Taken was allowed when submitting your characters, I knew that map would be bullshit in every single way.
Have fun playing Physical based builds when Immortal Calls are up every second.

But really, I have to agree, it's rather weird we're needed to google a bloody Map, else we'll get crushed. Trial & Error does not belong in PoE, when you consider that GGG caters to the "Hardcore no-lifers".

Therenext, Mirrorworthy geared Exiles to fight, just no, this map will always be bricked in my book, no purpose in suicide.

I think the only players who can do the HoGM map are crit based players, because otherwise you have no way to refill your flasks. Maybe if you have really high life regen.

Other than that, most physical builds deal some elemental damage as well (Hatred ;)).
