[Windows 10] Failed to initialise.

Hi,
So after upgrading to Windows 10 Pro on my laptop yesterday, I did a clean install of the latest nVidia drivers (353.62), reinstalled Steam, redownloaded PoE. But when I tried to launch it, I always get the same error "Failed to initialise." Now I know I could fix this by using that little FixPoEFont code but here's the thing, that piece of software switches ALL the fonts in the game to Verdana which is easily the ugliest font possible. I love the regular PoE font and would love nothing more than to play the game with its intended font. Thus I have 2 questions: Does anybody know of a way to bypass the aforementioned error while retaining the default fonts? What are the names of the default fonts used in PoE so that I can try and tweak the system so Win 10 accepts them? Cheers, Amarantha Last bumped on May 17, 2017, 11:33:21 AM

You can configure the fonts used via the configuration file FontMap.txt EDIT: The fonts are also registered privately to the process; even if you were to manage to install them manually (which, for the same reason, doesn't appear possible at the moment under Win10) it would have no effect as they're not within the same namespace. Yes I know that coz I actually don't install just about anything on my computers (I actually went through the code you graciously provided then compiled it myself so as to be sure, yes that's how paranoid I am about security).
But the problem I have is, the game uses 7 fonts and your fix only changes 3 around (arguably these 3 are used in about 90% of everything but still) so I'm wondering why the game can't start because it can't register these 3 but the other 4 are no problems? At any rate I'm actually exploring another workaround to see if I can do without your fix altogether. That's just because I didn't map all of them; just the most used. You can configure any font mapping you like via FontMap.txt -- even the system ones the game uses (check the log file FixPOeFont.log to see all the fonts the game is referencing)

Had the same problem, i simply run it as administrator. Right click on the .exe / properties / compatibility / check "run as administrator". Fixed the problem for me. :)

I'm in the same boat. Upgraded to win 10 yesterday and everything was working, I could run 2 clients no problem. Today I got the "failed to initialise" error so I used the fixpoefont and the client worked, but when I'm trying to open the second client I get "CRITICAL ERROR Failed to open logfile".

Yes, I was able to run 2 instances yesterday without having to use FixPoeFont or anything else, win 10 worked just fine. Today I can't.
