Malachi reward?
It doesn't really bother me, as a veteran player who knows that the game really only begins at level 80+ with mappping, crafting etc.
But... wow... you guys spend 2 years making this expansion, setup this long arduous journey through the asshole of Satan to fight Malachi -- and no reward? Nothing? If I was a new player, I'd be more WTF than I am already. Maybe thats the big joke... ? We crawl into some demons asshole and get nothing for it but a few deaths. Maybe the choice between 3-5 different unique maps could be a decent reward?
(You only get 1 as reward of course! :D) Getting a rare map from merci dom didnt exactly feel "rewarding", so if malachai would give a rare map, then it has to be at least lvl 74-76 to be even worth it. You just wasted 3 seconds reading this.

The rare map rewards from dominus was just to get players into maps, it wasn't buy a rare 66 map.
Malachi himself should not reward players with anything special, as no act bosses in the game do. Just allow him to drop fat loot and he will be worth killing. https://youtu.be/T9kygXtkh10?t=285

It's because no NPC in this game ever gives a proper reward. Look at all the quests, 90% of the time you get either absolutely nothing, or something crappy like a skill gem that you can otherwise buy for 1 alteration or 1 chance orb. On the rare occasion you get a skill point which is nice. Oh and sometimes you get something completely troll-worthy like a 1-socket yellow, garbage jewelry or a quicksilver flask. Whenever that is the reward I just wanna grab it then smash it right back at the NPC's face.
They're all stingy little bastards. "Congratulations you just saved the world... and my ass too, and...", there's no and. |

I still remember GGG said Awakening going to have a whole new place to farm like Dominus yet everyone is farming at Dried Lake which pathetically a lvl67 area.
The harvest has too much tedious job to complete in order to meet with Malachai. The distance of those Doedre, Shav, and Maligaro is so great that the challenging part is to travel forth and front between them. Meanwhile, the drop from Malachai seems not better than Dominus. The only factor it drops more quantity is due to the ilvl of the area compare to the level of the character that players use to farm like mad dog. It's sad seeing the hardest boss in the campaign rewards lame stuffs compare to Dried Lake area which is easier, no route complication, simplistic enough to determine the boss spot once you figure it out. " People said the same exact thing about dominus when he was added. Given time and adjustments he should be worth farming, at least in SC leagues. https://youtu.be/T9kygXtkh10?t=285

The reward should be itemlevel. They have to match up the ilvl of the boss with an important item modifier. Ideally, a group of modifiers that they balanced the content around.

" No his entire phases / and he does A LOT of damage to even high tier gear. The fact the fight last extremly long even with god tier gear. VS Dominus farming? VS Voll farming? VS kaom farming? Malachi is a joke for it. Efficiency and such all 3 beat it. It's REALLY not worth farming. Dys an sohm

Ultimately, a big unnecessary effort to kill all mini bosses over a big distance and hear Malachai bullsh*t everytime you kill one of his phase. It doesn't matter if anyone can one shot him or not, the effort to wait and travel is crappy. I rather run Dominus with predictictable pathing straight up to the highest floor.
