PoE has stopped working... on the loading screen

Just finished downloading the whole new expansion patch and when I click on "Launch" or even after I click the "PoE" desktop icon after a few seconds it shows this:
 Pathofexile.exe has stopped working... close the program. It happens all the time, I cant get it to work. What can I do?? Last bumped on Sep 5, 2016, 9:28:12 AM

What pisses me off is that this morning before the expansion/update/patch, the game was working fine. Then, the patch/update came (2.2 GB downloaded during 5 hours), and when the launch loading screen starts, I see the "pathofexile.exe stopped working" message and the whole thing closes.
I came here and tried everything from the sticky topics and nothing works. So I decided to uninstall the whole game/client (and deleted everything PoE related folders/files). Now I downloaded the game and I will install it again from scratch (6.16 GB). According to my calculations, this will take like 15 hours (yes, my connection is super slow). If this thing doesnt work after that, then sayonara, goodbye and adios, because I'm not trying again and nobody seems to be helpful here. I will just quit if I see the same problem after this reinstall. We will see in 15 hours from now. |

You need to learn some patience man.
This is a FREE game. You aren't entitled to or paying for "paid support". Most assistance on this forum is VOLUNTEER. If you wanted help from GGG directly, you should have used the "Contact Support" link at the top of the page. As for your error, you didn't post anything useful. " hey, you are right, it is a free game, but for some people they spent a whole lot more than 60 dollars to play this game, i myself for one. the game crashes for me too, with in 2 min of the gameplay. there aint much except what he showed, a window with client.exe stopped working. ign: dthem

That's why I said check the Windows Event/Error logs.

Yes, that error helps a lot.
First off, let me say that next time, you need to post your own thread. As for the error, you're crashing on loading sound. You can either try using -swa on the shortcut target or launch option, or you can try reinstalling OpenAL from Creative Labs. You're crashing in the OpenAL wrapper. |

ok, i have got that off the site and installed the openal thing.
also swa or softwareaudio is enabled on the steam launch options. will give the game a try now, if you dont see me in half an hour, i am either dead or issue resolved. ign: dthem

after uninstalling AL, reinstall AL wrapper, restarted, went out bought stuff, came back, still no luck
