If RMT is against ToS, why do the sites still exist?
Honestly I'm just wondering from a practical perspective why all these sites have had RMT PoE stuff up since the beginning of this game. I know I can't list any, but I'm sure a number of us have looked at them out of curiosity. Why is it that GGG can't have these sites take down their business? What are the legal implications?

You seriously think GGG has any legal saying over these external websites? That is not how the internet works. GGG can combat RMT ingame and on their own forums. Externally its just up to people not to use these shitty sites.

It's not illegal to sell RMT services, it's against the rules of the game. There's a big difference between breaking GGG's terms of use and the law of the land.

Better question is, do you know the law? Why were you on those sites? And did you report those sites to GGG?

They're doing what they can. You can help. Report the sites and if you see a character who you believe is involved in RMT, report it to them... but let them handle it. Don't try to police the game on your own.

Because they buy from botters/powerplayers/streamers and have many resellers.
It's impossible to kill them all. Even the shutdown of the RMAH didn't prevent them from selling finished characters. It's a bummer that twitch has a 14 day save because if you checked other games you would eventually find out where they RMT. |

That's kinda like asking, "If rape, murder, and drugs are illegal, why do they still happen?" They only have a limited number of people and resources available to deal with it and no matter how many of those sites they DO stop, there's always likely to be more to take their place. It gets even more difficult when dealing with anything international like this game. They have no legal way to get the sites shut down entirely, so there's only two ways to stop them:
1. Cut them off at the source by getting rid of all the botters supplying the items in the first place. Problem is they need a very high level of proof to ban anyone for this and as I said before, as soon as they do, another one will just take its place. 2. Ban the end-users buying the items. Again, they need to be able to prove someone is guilty which isn't always so easy. |

Because they don't know how to detect RMT and it has been shown they simply ban people with RMT in their names involving a certain streamer last time.

By the way I'm actively fighting to promote what I feel should be the true Meaning of RMT (TM):
RMT - Real Man Trading (This is when you message someone and ask for the price of an item they have for sale, and instead of responding with "offer," they ACTUALLY give you a price for the item, that is some real man trading right there!) Link to my original thread where I explain this and more! http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1276200 I know some of you may feel differently, but I have to fight for my side of this cause. Thank you :_) Looking for more guild members for races/4 month hc leagues, pm for info
