Vendoring 80 quality of armour items doesn't grant 2 armourer scraps (bug ID 3,483,253,585)

Hi,

screenshot of bug ID, just in case:

The issue is described in this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDGnkEEeaBE

in short:

1st bug: I try to sell a mix of white and blue armour items for up to 80 quality (3x19+13+10), to get 2 armourer scraps, but it doesn't work. And yes, I'm that short in scraps (and scrolls of wisdom!) in 1 month league -_-'. I get my 2 scraps if I add another item with 8 quality.

2nd bug: when some of my items are already in the vendor window, when I add some quality white item, I either get nothing from vendor or I get transmutation shards. I should have scroll fragment instead, since the item is white.
My guess is white items are added first for the vendor recipe and the shard I see come from the blue item. But I still don't get how one of the permutations give me nothing.

Not a bug, the recipie is for 40% quality if you put items worth 35% in then add a 15% item you'll get one armourer's scrap the remaing 10% is scrapped and the next item in starts a new recipie

Hum, you're probably right here. But that still doesn't explain the weird behavior near the end of the video, which is the 2nd issue.

I haven't thought too much about the 2nd issue, but just wanted to mention that it is a known "feature" that the game checks vendor recipes in a specific order, that once it finds a match it stops searching, and any given item counts for at most one recipe. For example, the 6 socket item is checked before chromatic which is checked before augmentation which is checked before shards. So even though you can put in a 6 socket item with a tricolor link, and is rare with 6 mods (including one that would give alchemy shards), you will only get the 7 jeweler's orbs; you won't get a chromatic orb, an augmentation orb, or any shards.

I suggest only putting in one recipe at a time and not throwing in extra items beyond that, or at least being attentive to whether the vendor is giving you what you expected.
Thanks for the detailed report.

As mentioned above, there is no 80% quality recipe - there is only a 40% recipe, which you can fulfill twice, but you need two separate sets of items, each of which is 40%. There can be no overlap.

In your example, you have items whose quality sums to 80, but there is no way to split the items into two sets of 40, so you only get the recipe once, not twice.

Note that the recipe prefers to use lower rarity items when it can, which is why when you added a pair of white boots, you were offered Transmutation Shards, not Scroll Fragments. The recipe was able to make 40% total quality from just the normal rarity items, and then the magic item was considered on its own.

I did manage to identify a bug, though, thanks to your detailed report. When you were offered nothing extra for adding the second pair of boots, that was a bug in the rarity-optimization code. It will be fixed shortly. This only happens when selling a mixture of rarities that sum to at least 40% and you have excess quality items.

Cheers!

Is it possible to change the blue 20% recipe? I highly doubt there's a case where I would vendor a blue 20% item and prefer the shards to an actual scrap/whetstone and especially bauble

We just had a discussion about this, and the answer is no. Vendor recipes are not simply a matter of value. The recipe is intentionally and explicitly "20% quality normal rarity items", not magics/rares/uniques.

You can still use a 20% magic item as part of the 40% recipe, so it's giving roughly half a whetstone/scrap/bauble.

I was mainly thinking about it potentially encouraging more blue crafting through 20% then transmute with a little rebate. Oh well

Thanks for responding!
