Summon Archer Skeletons

So I do enjoy playing a summoner once in a while and I would like to see some diversity in summons skills, most of them are melee bruiser summoned creatures. I would like to see a ranged or supportive summoned creature

+1.

Not just archers but also mage skeletons.
Maybe you could make it like:

Summon skeleton of 3 colors:

Green: Archers
Blue: Mages
Red: Warriors

And you could change the gem color with chromatic orbs. >:)

Or a support gem that would change the type of the skeletons summoned with a stats buff modifier to the summon gem, and this would come in 2 colors.

I actually suggested something like this for a unique jewel in the upcoming expansion and it was shot down, because the community consensus is ranged>melee. And it makes sense, having 12+ skeletons in the back firing arrows from behind a wall of zombies would be incredibly OP. And this isn't even considering the mods you can slot onto the skeletons and make them much stronger at range.

So I disagree with skeleton archers, but I agree that having more diversity in summoning would be great.

I do, however, continue to support my other suggestion for skeleton magi. If the magi still get the 50% less elemental damage modifier, it would be a fair balance to let them be ranged instead of melee, especially if you wanna summon them using totems.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.

Obviously archers could have 50% less damage modifier as well, so I really don't understand how people claim a certain idea is OP without seeing how the idea is actually implemented.

By the way, with ranged spectres supported by GMP, etc, we can already have a whole lot of ranged attacks behind a wall of zombies.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I would also like to have more ranged minions besides a handful of tentacle miscreation/flame sentinel/undying evangelist spectres, but if you compare 12+ archer skeletons with a number of support gems to buff them alongside 1-4 spectres, I'm pretty sure the skeletons would outDPS them by a mile.

not nearly as op as you think.

1 skeletons have AI constrictions, meaning they cant use the off screen cheese that ranged builds do. It also means they wont kite or run away

2 skeleton damage is actually not that good most because of the bad elemental scaling (hatred is a huge portion of a minions damage)

3 you would need to re-summon them all the time anyway, so vs trash mobs your clear speed wont be fantastic.

This is why skeletons for the most part are neglected. by the time you summon them... a zombie / specter aura build would have already killed everything.

SRS get away with it because they have bunches of perks, they aren't directly targeted, they move faster, they scale off elemental well , they can be used in a staff.

As for summon diversity, we have srs , zombies, skeletons, animate guardian and animate weapon and specters.

3 of those summons aren't even competitive.
The constructs on the way to Vaal seem to give precedence to, well, constructs...

Imagine Spell/Attack totems that can move around and utilize linked skill... This, anyway, is what I always think about when I see the constructs. It seems a bit steam-punk-ish, but it's already in the game, and of course, these are animated by magic not technology I'd assume.
