loot highlight problems

ok let me explain.

when i kill monsters, loot drops. rare items and orbs are auto highlighted for like 5 sec when they drop. this way its easier to see what loot is allocated to me.

now my problem: suddenly few days ago the loot stopped autohighlight on drop, i can toggle highlight but that show all junk loot always, and thats not what i want.

now i messed around with options a bit enable "always highlight" in options then disable it with the keybind ficed this problem. Later on i got the same problem again and this time i tried the same fix and it didnt fix it.

Now it auto highlight rares in some areas at some points and switching area or even pressing
"key pickup" can screw it up, sometimes showing and sometimes not, this is getting very annoying since it is indeed a game mechanic that let me see valuble loot on drop, but there is no option to toggle it whatsoever.

either its ment to always work and is bugged or its a toggle for it that do not exist in options

The settings file is in the My Games folder, and it's called production_Config.ini. You can move this somewhere else if you want the default settings again.

I suspect this may be something to do with your keyboard being broken, or some software interrupting the keypress.

exactly what does this .ini file do and what happens when i remove it? and more specific where it is..

It's either in My Games\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile, or just My Games\Path of Exile. The ini is an ini file, containing a text list of game options. If you remove it, then when you start PoE again, the game will make a new default ini file.

The problem is unlikely to be your settings though, since you say it's intermittent throughout the game. That means the problem is most likely a stuck or broken key, or possibly the keyboard's cable. Try a different (known good) keyboard.

ive tested all keys, also another keyboard. its not the cable since it has none.

this problem dont occur random, it occurs when i enter new areas, for example im running docks and no loot highlight whatsoever. changing to another area may solve it, sometimes not.

is there a toggle for this?

Do a Pack Check, and maybe this will fix your game, or if that doesn't find anything, you could try running the GGPK Defragmenter.*

There is an "Always Highlight" setting, which you know about, and there's the highlight loot key, which only highlights everything when it is being held down.

* If you run on Steam, Verify Integrity of Game Cache instead.

seem its only on some areas it wont highlight... docks never highlight any loot, nor dominus while some other areas including maps does, so its indeed not a broken key or something.

You're doing maps, so do you have any macro programs set up, like AHK?

Do you have special mouse or keyboard bindings other than the PoE options?

So when it is working correctly, can you tap the show items key and then does the should-be-highlighted loot go away?

i have no macros at all, keybinds are all original.


im using "Alt" to show all loot when holding it down, also use it as keypickup so i need to hold alt to be able to pick anything, and tappin it dont change the highlight time if that waht u ment.

and to be more specific it is at Dominus and in docks where it dosent work for some reason

The timed loot highlighting being broken might very well have something to do with recent patches, but I'd venture it's a very rare problem, since nobody else has spoken up about it.

Would you mind running dxdiag and clicking "Save all information..." then pasting it here in Spoiler tags? Are you running stand-alone or Steam version?
