GGG Pls remove Google Analytics and Facebook Connect from your website

Hello GGG. I have a question. Why are you using Tracker Tools connected w ur website? What is the benefit of it?

I am somewhat disturbed by the global tracking of activities.

your political and philosophical ideology is all sorted out while
you peruse news articles, read blogs and view video, listen audio.

they are putting together every piece of every puzzle they can

analytics is not a "PRO FREEDOM!" mentality.

Google analytics is the best available tool to make deep analysis of how users use this website on its totality. Not having it would mean GGG would not be able to ever improve this site correctly.

Facebook connect is a plugin to let you login through your facebook account, and yeah it gathers some data like your Facebook name and email if you use Facebook to connect to this site.

Nothing that GGG don't has from you already, because to create an account to play you are using a legit mail account and even your credit / debit card from purchasing at the shop.

So, nothing to worry here. I would not run a single site nowadays without Google Analytics.

If you want to avoid being data gathered, use a proxy. Analytics will track the IP of your proxy and not yours if it really bothers you, but actually using this site without a proxy is helping GGG to shape the site as you are giving real data like your country, internet connection speed on that area, and other useful data that only helps to the development of this site.

By the way, if the real reason of claiming a removal of that is because you are in China and the site laods slow as hell, I can provide you a self made proxy that many PoE players are already using to play properly.

I hate when the powerful get smarter by leaps and bounds because I know
exactly what those smarts will be used for. Think derivatives trading
and hypertrading algorithms.

Now imagine this mentality and capability being leveraged towards an already
drastically corrupt political culture... the crucial need for influence
over the public to mask the purpose of the donors and gain the official
win.

I fear an analogous political autotune process, whereby any message no matter
how meaningless or misleading can be made into "beautiful" or "meaningful"
policy/ dogma / discourse.

It's up to you. You are fully entitled to hide your identity on the internet, no one is stopping you of using a proxy. Actually, I read an article the other day saying that about 50% of analytics are already useless because that 50% of the internet is using a proxy.

All of the existing available analytics systems suck ass compared to Ganalytics, and it is just counterproductive not to use such tool to improve your site.

If you want for GGG to invest time and resources on a self hosted analytics server farm that is not controlled by a major corporation, make another much more detailed post with all technical connotations and upsides and downsides of such investments.

I don't use Facebook, but if they use facebook connect it is because they thought they could gain players letting them connect easily without creating a new account through the traditional system.

If it's working or not, who knows. They won't post their site analytics here for us, but then it would be debatable to decide if it should be removed or not. Analytics though is a really huge different beast and Google just makes it so easy. There is a term on the Analytics contract that lets you decide if you want to globally share your business data or not, and that data is only reference of traffic numbers, anything else.

The matrix is Google and everyone dances to their song. If you want play the hippy counterculture hacker make sure you are ready to throw shitloads of money at your ideas.

Now give me a solution to that. A nuclear strike on Google datacenters is not valid because they are redundant ( they have one nearly everywhere in the world and data is replicated realtime ) Moreover, Google and Facebook are not the only corporations that are massively gathering data from users. There is an incredible huge list of them and you don't know who they are.

GGG is just a simple organization using tools that make their lifes easier, you can't blame it on them.

Every kickstart internet company uses them.

it's a must these days since gouvernments outsourced secret service duties to private companies when it comes to watching people's behaviour.

but it is what it is. You know there is gonna be battles over privacy
and the politics of the global war on terror, copyright issues, companies
putting microphones in every product with a wireless network.

Our various democratic governments are lazy they want to get into power
enact their mandates and not waste time disarming landmines left by
previous govs and the private sector, many of which could be leveraged

Without public interference the govs will just do shit the easiest

I can only see benefits for propagandists. behavioral tracking is
one of the largest coordinated undertakings on the planet right now.
They ain't doing it for us.
