Immortal call setup

Hello people

So i have been testing my melee phys build on HC on a number of opponents and in different OPEN events, and have come to the conclusion that Immortal call cwdt setups needs to be toned down a little. As i have only played a phys damage char i can only write from that experience and the fact is that it is almost impossible to kill anyone in HLD as long as they have a decent amount of regen and a standard cwdt - IC setup.

So i will just take the time to go over the CWDT impact in HLD

step 1: hit the target with phys dmg
step 2: Immortal call procs
step 3: target takes no damage at all allowing him to regen life freely and have free time to damage you, at the same time we can't leech life/mana and all of our efforts are in vain.
step 4: Immortal call ends.
step 5: at this point if we have a fast enough attack speed we can hit 2-3 times on the target dependant on their CWDT level after which step 1-5 repeats itself.

Against most opponents with a full CWDT - Enduring cry - Immortal call - Increased duration setup the uptime is almost 50% of the entire time i am damaging them. I do get that there should be some counters against melee, but a mindless CWDT setup shouldn't be able to negate half of the damage from any physical build.

My suggestion would be to either lower the amount of damage prevented by immortal call slightly. so for example there would be only 15% damage effectiveness in PVP, against a target with immortal call up. Or it would be to lower the base time for immortal call in PVP, resulting in fewer hits being completely negated.

Or socket in phys to lightning, and call it a day?
I've gone Molten Strike linked with Phys to light for 100% elemental conversion, is something along those lines an option?

It would be an option, yes, but it is only a way to work around something that is actually really broken. I got myself the best possible sword i could get, leveled to level 91, 6Linked with 20/20 or 21/20 gems and i cant kill other high level characters at all if they just have that setup and 5% liferegen :P

It really should be possible to kill another character in pvp with physical damage.

Immortal Call is totally useless against elemental damage


use any kind of elemental skill or add the new support gem (physical to lightning) to ignore it totally

Physical damage is very high comparing to other elem skills considering most builds have very low physical reduction the only way to survive is to use immortal call/block/evasion/acrobatics


Block is nerfed + (block reduction gem)
evasion is useless (RT,EK spell) = RIP
acrobatics = (block reduction gem)

you will use elem dmg at least you and other pvp person having max res possible :)


Can you give me best counter to physical 2H RT high life pool + high life reg? :p run run run
Counter to 2h melee? I play it at top tier level and I can say there are several counters to it, more than anything else. try counter cwdt/moltenshell as 2h melee vs a caster. Only thing you can do vs molten is AoF and there is nothing to do vs trigger gems and such. Read my post on the other thread for more information

Why are police looking for missing people? None of them were missing last time I saw them
I do agree with this, tried a pure phys char with pretty much BiS gear and you cannot really get kills without bypassing IC by changing to elemental damage through gems/auras. It should be possible to kill someone with physical damage if you build around it.

Right now a simple 4-link can nullify a phys character. Why can't I nullify caster's with a 4-link?

Can do that pretty easily, stack max res to 100, though they'll penetrate that so guess it doesn't matter hmm

So there's a counter, but you don't wanna do it. That sounds like a different problem.
