Best base item types at high level

I cannot seem to find the link I saved months ago with a list of the best "Base items" for each equipment slot to use for alch/crafting purposes. I know Occultists Vestments/Astral plate, anyone have a link or more info?

Ambusher is for daggers.

I should have been more specific, I am not looking for best base items for chance orbs, more for crafting or best base items people want when buying items.

there is no general rule which base item is crap or good, it all depends on your build. so if you like to build a crit ranger a harbinger would be best for you, if you go non crit another bow type would fit you better.

just decide which damage type you want to specialize in and look in the website's item overview yourself which endgame weapon type brings the best base values for it.

you can view all weapons or armour in that section. You can see what the highest level pieces are. Occultists Vestments arnt really the thing for alching, its Vaal Regalia for pure energy shield chests, Carnal Armour for es+ev and Saintly Chainmail for es+ar. Ambusher is the best throwing/attack speed dagger, platinum kriss is the best general melee dagger, like geradon said its usually not 1 choice, theres a selection of high end bases depending on what you are specifically going for.

As a rule of thumb, people prefer to use the highest level version of the weapon with the highest attack speed in each category when going for raw DPS. In most cases these are not the highest level base items but even though they have slightly lower base DPS than their top level counterpart, they scale flat added damage better and therfore reach slightly higher DPS when crafted.
Exceptions are when the special implicit stats of the base weapon are more important than maximum DPS. For example: an Imerial Bow can get the highest DPS of any bows but you could also craft a Harbinger bow for a ton more critchance, which will result in a higher damage output for a crit oriented build. An Imperial Claw can reach the highest DPS but a Vaal Claw has the highest critchance and a Terror Claw has the highest leech. For the different armor types there are similar rules.

If you want to really get into crafting i would suggest that you just make a list for yourself in Excel or something similar. make 3-4 columns, one each for highest reachable DPS (= highest base attack speed on high level weapons), highest important secondary stat (which is often crit for weapons) and highest utility. Then watch the market and what builds are currently popular and then decide.

If you intend to craft mostly for yourself then it is much easier to decide and if you need help, simply give a rough overview on what kind of build you want to make and you will likely get some detailed answers.
