1.3 Ambidextery node allows different weapon-type dual-wielding?
So in 1.3 shields lost block chance and gained armor.
I sometimes read that 1.3 duelist got weaker, and i was wondered if it gained somenthing useful. So in 1.3 Ambidextery node reads: "20% increased Main Hand Damage" "20% increased Off Hand Attack Speed" So using this node, wouldn't it make sense to use 2 different weapon types? A heavier one(like mace or axe) for increased Main Hand Damage, And a faster one(like dagger or claw) for increased Off Hand Attack Speed. This way you can gain more benefits from % to get more dps. Also, it feels easier to get good loot since there are more weapon types you can use, However it becomes bad to get specific weapon type nodes, wich feels like i lost dps. Deadly Dilettante node seems like an option for that, since it is 24% increased Physical Damage for sword, daggers and claws, so i coud use for example sword+claw. I am also wondering wich skils i should use, while Dual Strike seems the best for me. So... the questions are: 1) Does it make sense that with 1.3 Ambidextery i would get better dps with different weapon types? 2) If i do lose dps, will the increased loot availbility be enough to cover it? 3) Regarding weapon type nodes, will Deadly Dilettante be enough to overcome that loss? 4) Wich AoE skill i should use with that weird setup? Or i should use Melee Splash? Edit: nodes arround Deadly Dialette also give total 8% increased Attack Speed and 25% increased Critical Strike Chance. Also, Twin Terrors node is very close and its path give a total 125% increased Critical Strike Chance while Dual-Wielding. Last edited by Niagasu#7854 on Dec 11, 2014, 6:56:16 AM

It's an interesting node. The first part says:
"20% increased main hand damage" What I get from this is what ever damage produced +20%. This could potentially include physical, +cold (haste), +fire (added fire gem), +lightning (thunder) and +chaos (mings). Plus any DoTs produced from the main hand (Bino, HoA overkill, etc). All of this damage +20%. The wording makes it sound pretty powerful. So many strikes within one breath.
But only one strike needed, for certain death. |
