Low Level (28) Dueling Basics request

All,

I am pretty interested in getting my feet wet with the new low level dueling for the next league. I have been trying to follow along with the threads in this forum but I still have quite a few questions.

1.Is there any established metagame of builds that are playable?
2.Will I be able to have fun and win a fair amount of the time without multi-modded gear?
3.Are there any budget friendly or easier to play builds for a beginner?
4.What type of equipment should I be looking for, obviously different affixes are more/less important here than in the PvE environment?
5.Do all forms of mitigation, evasion, life/es pool, dodge, block, armor have a place to be effective?
6.How long do the duels last?
7.Are curses effective?




Lastly,Can a wander be playable at level 28 with the current set of skill gems?

1. There are many builds that are "playable". Almost all have some counters though
2. You might have a hard time "winning a fair amount of time" vs people that have multiple "elreon" crafted weapons and gear. (200pdps bows/170pdps one handers etc) but vs the many players that should hopefully give it a try you can certainly do well.
3. Melee is easier to get into as you dont require the more expensive +1 corruptions that are a must of casters to be competitive.

4. Life on every non unique piece where possible, resists for cap (some over cap will be desirable vs certain builds). Damage. Try and get something offensive on most of your gear.

5. Es/low life builds are expensive to make them successful (other than a low life cast on death team v team build)
Evasion is better than armor from what I've seen, but with the new changes to the tree it might be possible to get some really high amounts of armor to help greatly reduce incoming physical damage.

Block/dodge is absolutely great and unless your damage is ridiculous you are better off going the block route to allow you to survive a bit longer.

6. duels can last from 10-15 seconds to the full length up to draw, depending on build/gear and skill differences.

7. You should aim to use at least 1 curse.

I plan on making a series of videos for getting into LLD (tips and tricks, flask setup, uniques, corruptions, master crafting, farming...). Hopefully I can get some out soon before the tournaments hit.
