Cut-throat, Instance size, partying

I have various questions and comments that are inter-related regarding the title's topics — mainly in relation to Cut-throat league

1. Will Cut-throat be a permanent league? (as opposed to leagues that have limited duration before resetting) I would hope so since there's not much reason to be resetting it. Other types like attrition make sense to be limited, but I don't see why cut-throat should be.

2. Will cut-throat league allow for partying? I assume it would. Problem is, when you allow partying it makes it rather required for everyone to be in a maximum party, otherwise they would be gangbanged/ganked/outnumbered.
It's no fun getting picked off by a group of 4 when you're playing solo. Aside from being in a full party oneself, how is someone supposed to protect themselves from being ganked in cut-throat mode?

3. Is party limit the current instance limit? If it is, I recommend that be changed at least for cutthroat mode (if cutthroat allows partying), allowing minimum 2 parties in 1 instance at a time. The maximum population inside an instance should be a multiple of the maximum party size (i.e. 2x or 3x)
As opposed to an uneven number, which would allow 1 party to have more players than another party.
With a multiple of only 1x, it would make parties completely safe from cutthroat, which is not a good idea.

4.How are instances going to be publicized in cut-throat mode? will there be player names, party size, player levels, player classes listed?

How easy will it be to join and leave separate instances in cut-throat compared to other league?

Much of this information may be under development, but I'd like to know what the developers —and you guys— think about this.

Good questions.

I'd like to point out that some of the potential problems you identify could happen regardless of the size or existence of parties. As long as you had enough friends or like-minded people together they could just agree not to attack each other for the purpose of ganking, or filling an instance for safety from outsiders - they wouldn't need to be together in a party.

Don't have any answers for you though.
Yeah good questions here. Hopefully Chris drops in and has something to tell us about this. Although I bet most of these issues are currently in discussion over at alpha forums.

For question #1. Are you referring to instances being permanent? If so, My guess is when you join an instance, a list of all available instances will be displayed and you can either join one, or make a new one. It would probably only list instances other people were actually in I guess.

For question #2. I assume the way partying works won't change for Cut-Throat. If I were to play Cut-Throat, I would play it mostly solo. If that makes me at a disadvantage, that's on me.

The standard cutthroat league is intended to be permanent. GGG hasn't released any information on the other stuff though. It'll definitely be interesting.

I'd love to add more info, but there isn't anything publicly announced to add yet. I did discuss cutthroat when recording on a podcast with flux from diablo.incgamers.com today - but I am pretty sure it didn't answer any of the good questions you asked here. We'll try to make an announcement with more information sometime once we're in beta and have had a chance to flesh that league out more.
