How much accuracy rating do you need?
Im planning a a crit staff build but i'm a bit scared that i won't be able to hit anything when i get higher level. currently with the passive tree and my gear ill have around 800 accuracy rating and that feels abit low i checked my ranger, i have 2,7k and my hit chance is only 91%

"chance to hit" is calculated in a weird way.
The game compares your accuracy to some hypothetic evasion rating of a standard monster of the same level. However, once you are 80+, you will not encounter monsters that even have your level anymore, so while the "chance to hit" in character screen starts to drop, you actually still hit all monsters all day. Accuracy based characters with 85%+ chance to hit lategame will do fine. To achieve this, you want 2-3 affixes of 200-400 accuracy somewhere on your gear, if you do not have high dexterity. Around 2500-3000 accuracy will be perfect. 3.5 build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2299519

I have 85% chance to hit with 1548 accuracy on my level 87 Shadow and he does fine even in 77+ maps since his actual chance to hit is probably ~90% there. Still trying to get a bit more to improve my effective critchance because of the way evasion and critchance interact.
from my experience you could sum it up as following for endgame 75+ maps: <1000: way too low and you won't really hit much 1300: managable but a bit low for crits 1500: decent >2000: great I'd much rather prefer the chance to hit to be displayed relative to the last monster killed/hit or the area level. This would not only be much more informative but would also prevent the incorrect tooltip chance to hit /DPS deflation once you hit level 80+. 11.02.2013 - 11.02.2017: four year PoE anniversary!
