Vaal/Corrupted Gem Questions

So I stopped playing for a few months and just got back into the game.
Can someone please explain the huge difference in Corrupted, Vaal and Regular gems? For example, I see corrupted 20Q reaves go for 15~ ex, while regular Vaal 20Q reaves go for 1 ex, same with regular reave. Is there a big difference between these gems? Also, does it really change the gameplay or are certain ones significantly different/better than regular gems? Thanks ~Saltyy |

What level are the ones that go for 15 ex? I bet they are level 21.
Vaal reave is an entirely different skill and requires souls to charge (like a flask kind of). We fight to delay the end because it's the means that matter.

All Vaal gems are corrupted, but not all corrupted gems are Vaal.
Vaal gems are like "ultimate attack" which can be used once per 60+ enemies killed (and this gem doesn't work without those "souls" gained). Normal gem can be corrupted to gain additional bonus (like +1 level or +3% quality). As been mentioned above - those corrupted gems probably were level 21. Remember, suffering is convenient.
That is why many people prefer it. Happiness requires effort. |

Why anyone would pay 14+ Ex extra for a level 21 Reave is beyond me though as attack gems gain very little when they level.
And if you close your eyes, does it feel like your exalt almost hit this time~

I don't know about physical gems like reave, but for spells +1 level is a BIG DEAL. This is because the levels affect the base values. One level can increase your damage substantially.
