Corrupting Gems.. Got Some Questions!

So, I've not really explored corrupting that much but I've seen A LOT of corrupted gems. Is it a common ritual to corrupt 20/20 gems? Assuming "nothing" happens, does it still bring down the trade value? Seems like people frown upon Corrupted items unless they were a success? Help clean some of this up for me, please!

20/20 corrupted gems will have a lower value but not by much. The only thing the corruption prevents is corrupting the gems.
The main problem is that the corrupt can turn the gems into something that is worth much less.

If there is a vaal gem you could turn your main skill gem into weak fluff gem and even when there is no vaal version of the skill you could loose alot of quality. Last league i vaaled my 20/20 firepen into a lvl 20/ 12% corrupted firepen.

While I like corrupting my 20/20 gems there always is a huge risk involved.

Oh, it can actually remove quality? Didn't think it could do that...

Still on the fence regarding my 20/20's, haha.

A lvl20/20 quality gem can become lvl19/20 or lvl20/10 at worst. Well, that's what happen to me in curiousity.
