What weapons should I be using as newbie?
Sup guy, I'm new to POE. I just started while ago. I wanted to know what weapons is good start for newbie shadow like me? Somewhat interesting in using dagger, but claw look nice too.
Also, I have no idea how to build my passive tree. BoomExplosion - Templar (BOOM!) _Sistar_ - Duelist (currently rerolling him) FakeShooter - Ranger (meh LA, iceshot rangerrr) FakeMaster - Shadow (might start when I get everything) Last edited by Laststranger#1667 on Feb 5, 2013, 2:41:54 AM

Claws will give you a much easier start.
However, Daggers will yield a higher DPS later on. As for passive tree, just don't underestimate the need of survivability. Maybe make a build, using ~80 points and post it here, so we can give you a feedback. Sorry Exile, but your loot is in another dungeon!

Hi guys,
Sorry to burst in, i'm pretty new as well and started a build shadow dagger based on evasion/block. It might get you some ideas, Laststranger. Here is my woiuld be build with 80 pts : http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgYAAMwD2wV9BbUNAg5IEHsRLxGWFSAWvxi9GYYeGiCcIuooKipNKworby1VMFQwfEPSS0lRR1FMVupW9V3yYeJwUnDVfVt9438rh9uNv5LNk_yX0JlXmZqbtZ2WnyeiLqZ_pzSsR67PsbOyRLTFtUi297k-vjrAGcEAwzrKSs3q1orbGttu3efe9uKA53Toe-jW6f7rLOtj647tQfPq9Uv_kw== Delirii, if you got any comment on this build, i'd really like to read it :) |

" This build will not work. You grabbed zero life nodes. Because you are a new player, try to make this skeleton and go from there.

Use dual strike, whirling blades and either freezing pulse and / or fire trap. Depending on what you do, you might also want to grab some cold / fire / crit nodes that are in the shadow area. | |
" Like glh5 said, you really need some Life nodes. If you really want to rely on evasion and blocking, you probably don't want to go for dual wielding (you'd have a hard time), since shields provide a much higher blocking chance + a good evasion bonus as well. Grab some Shield Block nodes, those might also increase evasion gained by shields and increase block recovery (less time beeing "stunned"). I don't think that getting Mind Drinker that early will be necessary, a ring with mana leech or Warlord's Mark will get you enough mana as well. Make sure to get enough Int nodes for gear/skill requirements. Sorry Exile, but your loot is in another dungeon!

hmmm, is there reset skill item? If I make a mistake
is it alright to go sheild-less? I'm planning to use dual wield dagger BoomExplosion - Templar (BOOM!) _Sistar_ - Duelist (currently rerolling him) FakeShooter - Ranger (meh LA, iceshot rangerrr) FakeMaster - Shadow (might start when I get everything) Last edited by Laststranger#1667 on Feb 5, 2013, 8:10:15 AM

You can find orbs of regret (rare) or use passive respec points earned from quests. I'd say bows give you a good, safe early game way to avoid getting crunched.

Always depends on what you aim for.
When going pure evasion, a high blocking chance will help you to survive. When making your way down to Iron Reflexes, you'll be able to take a few hits. Still, beeing able to block some attacks (chance to block > 25%) will help alot. Sorry Exile, but your loot is in another dungeon!

Hi glh5,
Thanks for the feedback. I'm already using freezing pulse and whilring blades and was planning on using dual strike (for now i use viper strike+kitting on big mobs and double strikes on "white" mobs since i donc have dual strike) Just so i know, you're saying that it wont work because i "grabbed zero life nodes" is it because i'm new or because its really not doable without +life passiv skill ? My thoughts behind this was to grab as much evasion and agility + block chance possible. i even wondered if it would be best to use acrobatics or not, but i figured losing all ES and armor would be too much of a loss even if it gives 20% dodge. Ok, based on the skeleton you linked i tried to keep my goal and make 2 builds. 1. more offensiv :

" You'll have to face enemies that deal 1k+ DMG once you get to Merciless, maybe some in Cruel as well. Not increasing your life will get you killed often. 6-9 Life nodes isn't much, but you might be able to make up for it with ES gear. Sorry Exile, but your loot is in another dungeon!
