[3.0]Facebreaker Cycloner REDUX - Voyage to 1M dps

After swearing to myself never to touch Cyclone again after building and playing this character for 2.5 years, here I am, back at it. Five days ago I accidentally crafted a pretty good Steel ring and I couldn't help but wonder how much it would add to a new Facebreaker build.

Here's a little preview of what I've been up to in the last couple of days:



I have nowhere near perfect jewels, I'm still levelling Maiming so the one million mark will be broken soon. I'll be updating the thread in the coming week with new gear, gem setups and hopefully some T14+ map videos. Stay tuned :o)

Defensive stats

These are the defensive stats with both the Quicksilver and Rumi's pot popped. Because of the high clearspeed I can have them up about 90% of every map. Take note, this screenshot was made in my hideout. My chaos resist isn't 0 but -60%. This is without the Fortify buff and Endurance Charges:

I've added a Courtyard run with non-legacy Facebreaker to show the potential for this build in leagues. I didn't notice that for the first part of the run, including the bosses, I didn't even have Hatred and Tempest Shield activated.

F.A.Q.

Here are some common questions asked.

* What about Vaal Pact?
Vaal Pact is not viable in my build because I rely on life regeneration to keep up Blood Rage

* Is Ming's / Bronn's / Any other item usable?
Ofcourse it is but I've been perfecting this build for over a year now so the combination of items I use is perfectly in sync with the skill tree. Any other item in any slot will give you a disadvantage in one way or another

* How do you deal with reflect?
I use the unique Rumi's Concoction flask to boost armour and max out block to 75%

* I can't keep up Blood Rage
You need to have at least 250 life regen (or a decent amount of Chaos Res and less regen) to be able to keep up BR

* Can you do Uber Atziri?
Probably but I haven't tried yet and I won't until the new expansion goes live

* I started the build as a Marauder/Duellist/... Can you give me a skilltree?
No. This build is optimized specifically for the Scion. There's no way for me to theory craft an optimized version for other characters. I highly recommend you looking in the other forum parts for your specific character to get an idea of what to do with your tree

* What about Hardcore?
Well, I guess the build in it's current form is too risky to try on Hardcore but with some adjustments (i.e. no Abyssus, less physical damage nodes but more life and armour) it's very viable

Pros

Amazing DPS and clearspeed
Incredible AoE damage on mobs you don't hit because of HoA and Ele Prolif + Increased Burning
High life so no troubles being stunned
Great survivability
Cyclone is really fun to play
Being able to run any and all but one map mod (Blood Magic)
Atziri is a breeze
Can be really effective without legacy items as well


Cons

Can be pretty expensive with a non-legacy Facebreaker and 6 link Belly of the Beast or Carcass Jack

The screenshot you posted was with Concentrated effect. Don't you think that's paper DPS and has some severe limitations when clearing maps?

thats the reason he is using carecass jack and got amplify in the passive tree. You still got plenty of range after those 2.

Cool stuff dude, facebreaker is kinda awesome. You should include clearly that this is gonna have a huuuge dps loss compared to yours if you dont have close to perfect legacy facebreakers. Also, your skill tree is kinda messy. I know you are a scion, but this build is meant to be for a marauder. you spend 3 talentpoints to get 18 + to all res, instead of spending 3 talentpoints to get 10 res while holding a shield, + 10 res + 1 to max fire/cold/lightning and inc flask effect. (the big shield circle above the templar where you leave out just 1 node and the marauder +1 to res node). I have tried to keep the build like yours, but from a marauders starting point. There are still plenty of improvements to be made, but maybe you have your reasoning behind some of the paths / nodes.

Oh, it's definately not paper DPS. Like Paladin already explained, I'm using the Carcass Jack and the Amplify node to counter the downside of Concentrated Effect. I've stated in the Cons section that this is not the fastest build out there but when doing endgame maps I never lag behind and can take credit for at least 30% of the kills in a 4 man party. It's a matter of 'skill' as well. Knowing how to correctly use Cyclone and maximizing output is a must, but to me that's totally worth it.

@NipXile >> Hours and hours and literally dozens of regrets went in the refinement of this build and this is the most perfect balance between dps, survivability, synergy with my gear and clearspeed I have yet to find. Starting from a different class like the Marauder could potentially be even more effective like you said but hey, the Scion is sexy :P

Aaaand patch is here :o)

Took me a while to figure out the new skilltree and even after theory crafting and using all the skillpoints after the respec it still took me 3 ex of regrets but I managed to upgrade the build slightly. Life is the same as before, block chance has gone up 1% so it's now maxed at 75% instead of 74%. Armour has gone up a bit so I now have 2% more phys reduction and my dps went up by over 2k tooltip.



Unfortunately no Multistrike so I can scratch that idea but all in all I'm really happy with the way the build worked out.
