Molten Strike build - 1H/Shield, High Block, AoF, tanky with good dps
Hey guys,
This build is my own version for a Molten Strike build that i'll be playing during the 2 week race and then into Invasion. Much of my reasoning comes from this thread in the marauder forum (like, for example, why i'll take Avatar of Fire), but I had the need to make a ranger version out of it (for no better reason that I want to play a melee ranger xD), and I always liked shields and high block, so i reworked it to get efficiently available block nodes. This is my work-in-progress build, i'd like to have some feedback on it as it's been quite some time since the last build i crafted, and any help is appreciated ;) http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgIAm42v6wgu7YMZjgBe037veniu7g5I7iP2VvobrT3i7_D8xXRBt9NaSGeg3Q2kwod2W69KfU4qtkEppUMxG8heE8OGhO_nkWEhdO2srxpVEuF672SjYEs26AUtAec6UqcwMn6ezdIhVbV251cNwQSRzl8_u-3zBvcyoLRyqfuqrKp82VnzwBqQVWaep4T60q-NGjgdFHB9NunsOEw1qZUkquNqV-IoxRoyGYV35TKJ875RYBpsBLPz3RRNAnGiAPAf458nL-8OvJ8= The skillgrimage is real, but I think it will play out nicely anyway

I think it's got a very strong leveling phase thanks to Point Blank being so near, so the focus early on would be on getting tanky.. Then, after lvl 83, if I can get my hands on a Three Dragons helm, i'll be going for Static Blows for another massive DPS boost (my 1st option), or some weapon-specific node along the way (axes probably, or maces, as swords have a wasted implicit mod on them). I don't think i'll have the need to get anymore tankier, but if that will be the case, Marauder starting zone is full of Life and res/max res nodes, or I could delve into Duelist area for more Armor. As for "required" gear, Crest of Perandus will be my shield of choice unless I find some insanely good shield at some point (40% block chance shield lets me ditch some block nodes and reach other things earlier on) and Stone of Lazhwar for Spell Block. Gems setup will be MS - Multistrike - Weapon Elemental Damage - Life Leech/Life Gain on Hit MS - Multistrike - Weapon Elemental Damage - Life Leech/Life Gain on Hit - Blood Magic MS - Multistrike - Weapon Elemental Damage - Life Leech/Life Gain on Hit - Blood Magic - Fire Penetration I may re-arrange the gems, as AoF is much dependant on Fire Pen to be effective, but I'll get around that "at runtime", as I don't have enough data to plan ahead. Auras of choice are, of course, Grace and Hatred (both if MS is linked with Blood Magic). The end all be all of this build, for when i'll get filthy rich, would be a Doryani's Catalyst I guess that's all for now, let me know what you think ;) Bye! It could be great for end game with great gear since +% weapon ele dmg has the same effect as +%physical dmg.
You have 2weeks, I doubt you'll get such gear without forsaking life and res, which means you'll probably choose to be tanky with no offense at all. I'm playing in invasion, and you don't need to be THAT tanky, at least drop some 2% block nodes and take offensive nodes instead, as it is right now even 6-7 nodes will double your dps. | |
" Thanks for your input ;) It's not hard to move some 2% block nodes over to DPS nodes. There are plenty of options, with weapon specific ones being the better, but even some good generic 1h phys damage nodes are available. I'm not that much into dropping block, but I guess I'll have to see how it plays out. Bye! |
