CI Dual Totem Storm Call Cast Speed/AoE/ High Damage Invasion Hardcore

1. Introduction

Hello everybody.

This is my first guide here on the forums for a build.
So please, be nice and PM me or post here if you think I should add or fix anything.
You can also PM me to correct my English since this isn't my first language.

I know that there is 1 or 2 others CI Storm Call Totems build but I think my build is pretty different then the others. I play with no Crits or as low as possible, this is on purpose.

I don't really like crit with this build, nor Power charges.

3. Skill Tree

So this is the build I am playing right now.

I went for quite alot of ES but that is normal, Im playing this build in Invasion, if you play it in Ambush, you probably can take less ES from that middle circle of ES and such. But I find it more safe to do it this way, depending on your gear.

I am currently level 82 and this build is like 90. But where Im at right now, there is not much difference between level 82 and 90 in terms of survibility. My next 8 points will be in AoE/Cast Speed.

If I reach 90 or higher. I think Ill be going for some Mana Rserved nodes if I need mana or I might add on some more damage.

Let me know if you want me to add Skill Trees for leveling from level 1 to 60ish.

4. Gear

So the gear is pretty important for this build.

CI is not really popular right now so the price of the gear is high. And there is a couple of must-have items that you need like every CI build.

I will talk about each piece of equipment and show you what I am currently using.

Wand

I derped and Vaaled this wand for I don't know what reason. I had no reason to do that and I lost like 17% Spell Damage for it. OOps!

So yeah, on this wand , you mainly want High Spell Damage, ( Hybrid + Main Spell Damage mod ). You also want the Lightning Damage mode. Just those 3 modes would make an amazing wand to start off at least. If you can get cast speed on it too, it's just really really good.
Other then that, I would suggest Mana or Mana Regen and Crit wouldn't be too bad also.

If you are really really poor Moonsorrow will do the job.

Chest

So, there's nothing new with the chest.... You want the 3 ES mods on it. And 2 Res + Intelligence mod would just make a perfect chest.

I really suggest you invest in a 5 link, even if it gives a bit less ES. But a 4 Link could work as well pretty well.

I got myself a 6 link and the improvement from a 5 link is really good. But I am aware that not everyone can afford one.

Shield

I just bought this great shield and im pretty happy with it!

So with the shield, if you think you have enough ES, " In hardcore" I would say at least 9k, then you might want to get some Spell Damage on the shield to increase even more your damage.

I would not suggest the crit on the shield, I would prefer Resists and Intelligence, but crit wouldn't be that bad.

Rathpith is a good option if you can't find anything else.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Helm

Nothing special, as high ES as you can on it and high resists. That is one of the part of where you get alot of you resists from.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Belt

You mainly want 40 + ES on your belt ( not counting the base ).
And 300 + Armor on it since this is the only place where you'll get armor from. A little bit of armor is better then none at all right? Especially that we have those % Increase Armor from Body and Soul, etc. You'll get have like 8-9% Reduce Physical Damage with the belt which is not alot, but with a granite, you get up to 50%. And you can almost be using a granite everytime you encounter a pack of mobs since the charges will go back up like crazy.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Ammy

Important thing on the ammy is that you will need + Increase Attribute for the Dex. If you don't have any dex on your gear, then you will need to invest in a +30 Dex node, and that is not the best!

The 2 mods of ES on the ammy is a must in my opinion, especially the % mod.
Other then that, Cast Speed, Spell Damage, Resists are also nice.

I also always keep an Eye of Chayula in my inventory in case I need it in a map. " Titie Bitches" Mainly for them .. Or those new Chimera thingy.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Rings

Dream Fragment is a must, nothing to say on that.

On the other ring, ES, Resists are a must.
Intelligence and Damage mods are a nice bonus. Such as Mana Regen.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Gloves

Dex is a must if you don't want to waste a point in a Dex node.
150 ES + is a must if you want decent survibility.
Intellect, Resists are a nice bonus.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Boots

Rainbowstride are really good boots to start with. They give you all you want. And they are pretty cheap.

If you want to upgrade them, you may want to get similar stats that they give but ... higher. Will be hard so I suggest to stick with them for awhile since they are really good.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Flasks

I am running 3 Granites, 1 Quicksilver and 1 Mana Pot. Always keeping one of each Resist flask in my inventory, depending on the invader or map boss, I will switch.

Note that those aren't good rolls at all, I didn't start rolling my Flasks so far, but I will get to it soon enough.

5. Gems

Chest

4 Link :

5 Link :

6 Link :

Using a 5 Link, I would switch between Increase AoE and Lightning Pen quite alot. Depending if the map had Increase Pack Size or not.

Concentrated Effect increase so much the damage it's just ridiculous.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Boots

Not using Purity at all right now, and will probably never really use it.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Gloves

I use Lightning Trap quite alot when my totems aren't taking alot of damage. That is just some extra damage. And really, it surprises me how much damage it does.

I would rather use Fire Trap but the cost of Dex would be too high, since I try to get around 70 dex for Multitrap and Lightning Trap. Fire trap is like 110 Dex at level 20.

And it helps shock stacking so why not!

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Head

I would prefer Molten Shell over Enfeeble but getting 3 Red Sockets on a ES Helmet is pretty damn hard. I keep Vaal Cold Snap level 1 since I don't get about it's damage .. Since im double totem and it won't do any.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Wand

I just culling with Arc rare mobs and Bosses with Item Rarity for some better loots!

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Shield

I put my main curse, Conductivity here since I don't really any support gems with it. The AoE of my curse is already huge because of my passive points in AoE. And the cost of mana is already really low.

But I might put Conductivity in my boots instead of Purity so it can benefit from the Reduce Mana gem. Why not right???

6. Playstyle

I will finish the rest of my build in the following days ...

Quick Screenshot about my stats right now.

Note that this is with level 18 gems only, and not all at 20% Quality. Oh and also, not counting the lightning penetration.

Would it be worth it to invest 8 points and just pick up unwavering stance?

I personally don't think it's worth it but, you could take off all those points that you use to get those totem nodes near templar and use them to get that only. But I would suggest that only if you plan on mapping in groups, otherwise in solo, your totems won't survive anything really.
Could you please put a leveling skill tree ? or at least tell us what are the key nodes and which should we get early, i like the build :p

I am in a hurry so I will make the leveling tree another day.

So , What I did is that I went on the right first to get the life nodes, I ignored every or most ES nodes. I got the one near the start of the witch near the right. And I kept going that way and got the life nodes near the +30 Strength.

So , after that, I started going left of the tree with the cast speed and lightning damage. You get the + Lightning Resistance which is good when you level.

I was not going for the circle ES nodes until I changed CI.

I also got the life nodes on the right and on the left of Faith and Steel.

I did not go double totem until Merciless since self cast is good when you start and you have no ele reflect before Merciless.

When I had good enough CI gear and high level enough, I respected in CI, which cost me like 20-22 points to refund. You get 18 refund points from doing the quests, so you will need only 4 regret. Which isn't that bad I must say.

Feel free to pm me if you have more questions!
Hey guy, what rewards should I choose the bandits?
Can you post from 1-60 Skill tree please?

It would help me to see where to go on the tree at early levels

thank you :)
