Dual Strike - Melee Physical Damage - Increased Critical Damage - Faster Attacks Lightning Strike - Melee Physical Damage - Pierce - Faster Attacks - Life Leech - Lightning Penetration Determination - Anger - Wrath - Reduced Mana Discipline - Clarity - Reduced Mana (Maybe Hatred or Purity instead of some of the others, depending on gear/what's needed in the situation and if it is an improvement) Spell totem - Summon Skeletons - Whirling Blades - Viper Strike It's no secret that melee builds are having a rough time finding a good mix of defense, and then managing enough offensive cabability to compare with the clear speed of certain ranged builds. Well, this so far is my most promising build with those aspects under consideration. Pros: -Now, because this build has extremely stacked +% Increased Armor through Iron Reflexes and the many Armor/Evasion passives taken there shouldn't be problems against reflect physical damage enemies during the later stages of the game. Even with the high crit chance the critical multiplier isn't outrageous, and at the end of the day that is what kills you. -Dervish is an amazing notable passive, with that alone dual wielding has a similar block chance that a shield would usually supply. -Because armor is very high there will be the option to wear Evasion + Energy Shield hybrid gear in some of your item slots, because of this through Eldritch Battery you have the option of running a lot of auras; grace, determination, clarity, hatred, anger, wrath, purity and clarity, though these can't all be taken, depending on gear acquired you can have a great mixture of these strong auras. -Dual wielding daggers increases critical strike chance to a further degree enabling higher damage in the later stages of the game. -High dexterity and high accuracy will give a great chance to hit your target, minimizing wasted damage. -A health pool that is sizeable enough to handle large hits. -Dual strike's quality bonus is very good, +80 critical strike chance at 20 quality. Cons: -Low Elemental Resistance in this build requires the user to acquire a large amount of resistances through gear. This can limit the selection of available gear and cause gear that would be an upgrade in all regards except resistances to be unused. Because this build doesn't use a shield strong shield choices that grant +24% to all resistances can't be used. -Defensive qualities of a shield (though block remains similar) are replaced with offensive qualities of a second dagger. This is a slight dip in defensive stats that would be used. -Dual Wielding requires you to have not one but two good daggers, this can be hard to find, daggers by nature can have mods that increase caster qualities that are unhelpful for this build. -AoE skill used will likely be lightning strike for this build (Whirling Blades while being good defensively doesn't pack the same punch as lightning strike). Because this skill isn't solely physical damage lightning damage taken from reflect mobs could be a problem if you have low lightning resistance.(This may change, I know the developers want to introduce new aoe opportunities for melee aoe particularly in regards to claws/daggers, a strong purely physical aoe may be on the cards) -Low Intelligence in the passive tree may require you to find gear with intelligence, this can again limit gear selection. So, that's the build, hope you like it. I'd be interested to hear what you think and what stylistic changes you'd make or flat out improvements I haven't thought of. Here's one possibilty of a slightly different build, this has a lot less armor so in that regards it's sketchy, but it has a lot more damage. At level 100 this build could be better, though that's probably not going to be obtainable in HC.

" I know, but classes are only divided by where they start on the tree and their initial starting stats, at high level the difference between classes blur. The starting point is often little of consequence. We all know the starting nodes for duelists have been labeled as 'underpowered'. But yeah, with the second build I'm quite sure with 118 points used it would be a better build. Here's an improvement that I made on the second build I posted (If you're a fan of the duelist then you'll be happier), I think this might be better then the first, it's hard to tell; this build probably won't have Unwavering Stance. I don't know if having Unwavering Stance is mandatory for melee characters in the late game. But aside from not having Unwavering Stance this build is much better.
