General Game suggestions for the Designers!

Hey guys, this thread will be used to place good suggestions for the game designers. I'll start my list:

1. The current barter system is a temporary fix… however, making it permanent should defiantly be considered. Remembering my gaming experiences from Diablo 2, gold (at least based off my experience and the experience of other gamers of my capability) was only used to repair items and resurrect mercs.

Seeing as mercs and durability have yet to be introduced (I don’t know if you will add these) gold really has no purpose, however treasure hunting for items to make a better item seems more fun and worthwhile.

Vendors could simply be stationary “horadric cubes” which simply say get x amount of item A get y amount of item b and 1 of item c and you get ultimate uber item D! Except unlike the horadric cube, you would know what you’re getting. This could provide an extra goal for treasure seeking players and also add rpg elements as well (examples of items with rpg like elements see WoW)

2. The passive skill tree seems very complex and new gamers may be confused, until suggested skill tree paths are created via wiki’s or forum posts, many new gamers may be turned off or frustrated, however a simple way to solve this would be to create a Beginning league, a league which would be from lvl 1-10 and offers a step by step recommendations for your class.

The first 10 lvls would be free of charge, however for lvls 10-xx would require some sort of payment (you’re the company name your price that seems appropriate and the lvl cap for recommendations) there will 6 beginner leagues one per class.

This will help new gamers understand the game and also provide a new stream of revenue. (the recommendations in this service should be strictly to passive skill tree and basic items, gems and support gems should not be touched and neither should advanced teir items as this will be the focus of hardcore gamers and this knowledge should be attained through commonsense and theory crafting of the player.)

3. WANTED League—ultimate pvp… western style. In WANTED players treat each other as mobs, each with a bounty on their head worth a certain amount of points, (points based on the amount of kills acquired) for the first 15 minutes of the league players can gain points by doing quests and killing random mobs, after 15 minutes Everyone becomes wanted and the kill fest begins.

The first player to reach 10,000 points win. The point ratio would go as so:
regular creature=1 point
rare creature=10 points
ultra rare creature= 25
points boss=100 points
quest completion= 150 points
player below 500 points= 200 points
player beyond 500=half of the players points
example, bob is worth 5000 points, I kill bob, I get 2500 points. Every time you die you lose 1/4th of your score, in this case bob lost 1,250 points.
this league could have 18 teirs 1 for each 5 lvls starting from 11-15 16-20 21-25 26-30 31-35 36-40 ect.

these are just some of my suggestions and im still thinking of many more! if you have ideas post em hear and bump the thread!

edit* added quest completion

The lack of gold is not at all temporary, and is indeed an intended and permanent feature of the game. You can read more about the thoughts behind this decision in the Dev Diary on the subject.
You can also read more about the intentions behind vendors in the Beta Manefesto.

Not sure how the mana regeneration situation is or how powerful mana flasks are currently in the beta but I don't want to see it fall into the same pitfall as pretty much every other diablo-like ever where mana regeneration is basically zero without the aid of consumables.

The flask system probably solves the problem anyway but I hate it when RPGs use dirt cheap mana potions as an ugly bandage for terribly broken resource regeneration mechanic.

IMO it should never take more than 20-30 seconds out of combat to fully regenerate.
agreed pheonix but based of what im seeing from SC42 live ustream account, there are really no mana issues by mid game due to the amount of items and passive abilities
