Bladeback Guardian at LOW LEVELS
NERF PLS KTHX
Seriously tho, when you are level 3 or 4 there is no way you can have enough fire resist to deal with it, even with max coral rings; it isn't just that you can't melee it, it's that if you even try then it is too late to run away or even Whirling Blades away once the fire spam starts. At higher levels it is a good tough opponent (for melee anyway) but at very low levels the fire spam is just too stronk. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

I agree. I just died from it, because it cornered me and just kept spamming the Incinerate Nova. i had a duelist onlevel 6 with 1 coral ring and a lot of +HP/+Hp regen items. its impossible for me -,-

Many of the elemental-based invaders are skips on a1n or a2n due to the fact that under normal circumstances you havent built your resists yet.
There could be ways to alter them that wouldnt be a full-on nerf. For example, I think low-level Dragonides probably doesnt need multiple proj on his fireball...its the shotgun that kills melee. Maybe for Bladeback, it could have a slower cast speed at lower levels to reduce the number of flamelets that hit you per second. Although I guess if youve got arctic armor, just use that. |

You guys seem to be new at Invasion. Let me introduce you to my friend Esc -> Logut to char selection screen here, he will talk about tricks of the trade, invasion veterans use to deal with that issue.
:P But seriously: if you are melee, you either need lots of life (not just rings, but actual % passive), or high resist. On lower levels the former is easier to get than the latter. If you don't have any of these then gtfo, or use some ranged ability, ST, Bear trap, etc.. When night falls

When you start use the scrolls you have to either buy a life ring or a es belt in town, ring might be better, this is basic stuff in any league for any character.
Get out of the way when bladeback starts his fire attack and wait it out, it has a cooldown so it wont start again for a while after it casts it, you can trick him into doing it and just run and let it cast it then go for free attacks until he does it again. Oblivious

You are not supposed to be able to face tank everything ( speaking of invaders ) as a melee at every stage of the game.
Deal with it :/. Spec throw exists. Bows exist. Wands exist. Trap exist. And if you time it correctly, you can even kill it. Invaders are a joke at lower level now, enough with the nerfs ... SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

He should only kill you the first time you see him. You have to learn the behavior of the invaders or you're going to keep dying to them.
Bladeback Guardian does his crazy fire attack if you're close enough for it to hit you. Get just within range of this, let him start spitting fire, then walk two steps away to safety. After he does this attack once, you're safe. You can just walk up and smash him until he's dead. There are no invaders you need to skip at low levels for safety reasons. Some occasionally aren't worth the time it takes to kill them, but that's the only real reason to skip one. |

"Some level gating may be in order. Bladeback and Tailsinger at low levels are pretty ridiculous. Of course low level balance matters little and the invaders are only around for another two months so eh. BreakingHearts/RhoaHood/BackAndVeryLate (Standard) | HushtailSweep/HushtailWeeps (Ancestor)
