IIQ diminishing returns
Was doing some testing with RF wrt IIQ/IIR snapshooting and found something interesting.
The test is done at merciless Hillock, multiple runs for each IIQ value and 100% consistent: No iiq: 5 items drop 20% iiq: 6 items drop 40% iiq: 7 items drop 60% iiq: 7 items drop 60%-70% iiq: 8 items drop 70%-102% iiq: 8 items drop Above 60% IIQ I cannot get exact numbers due to gear but one thing is clear and it's the diminishing returns of IIQ. I vaguely remember GGG saying something about nerfing IIQ etc but can't find any specifics about it, does anyone know this info? It would be nice to have some kind of graph/formula to see the breaking points before running around with IIQ that does nothing My guides

" I believe based on this thread: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/725812/page/1 That the optimal MF is found around 100 IIQ / 300 IIR The 352nd character to hit Level 100 in Standard The 82nd character to hit Delve 1000 in Standard Last edited by tackle70 on Feb 28, 2014, 11:48:56 PM

Hello, thanks for the link but not exactly what I'm looking for :)
That thread focuses on IIQ/IIR optimum balance based on this formula: C = (1+(IIQ/100)) * (1+(IIR/100)) However the formula is not 100% accurate because it doesn't take diminishing returns into account I'm looking for IIQ specifically the diminishing returns. From what I've seen doing these Hillock runs 100% IIQ is not optimal as between 60-70 and 102 IIQ there is no increase in item drops. In this case to me it seems the optimal IIQ would be 60-70 which is when diminishing returns start to kick in, stacking IIR at this point would seem more beneficial than IIQ. I'll try to get more IIQ gear and see where the next breakpoint in drops is. My guides

Did some more testing:
No iiq: 5 items drop (base drop) 20% iiq: 6 items drop (base drop + 1) 40%-68% iiq: 7 items drop (base drop + 2) 69%-126% iiq: 8 items drop (base drop + 3) 128% iiq: 9 items drop (base drop + 4) Rounded breakpoints with 5 items base drop: 1 = 20% 2 = 40% 3 = 70% 4 = 130% With a 5 item base drop, 20% IIQ means 1 more item which is 100% effectivity of IQQ. With above results we get: 1 extra item = 20% iiq = 100% IIQ effectivity 2 extra items = 40% iiq = 100% IIQ effectivity 3 extra items = 70% iiq = 85% IIQ effectivity 4 extra items = 130% iiq = 61% IIQ effectivity The interesting part would be to know these breakpoints and how to calculate the IIQ needed. In this example having 75% or 125% is exactly the same which is quite a waste if you plan to farm a certain boss for instance. Which monster has a fixed amount of dropped items? AFAIK, its at least a significant non-drop chance for them all but unique bosses, and I doubt its not value-range based...

Yes this info is only viable with unique monsters which have a fixed number of drops.
I did some Piety runs yesterday and because I don't have dual iiq/iir gear for me it is better to go with around 50% IIQ which can be achieved by gem + perandus and use the other gear for IIR My guides
