Self RMT league [New revolutionary league]

Hi.

Can we have a league where everything can be bought at NPCs with real money? You can buy Fusings but you can't buy a 6L.

This should stop RMT somehow.

Let's dub it "Charan is God" League. :p
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

I can see some of the reasoning, but it's doubtful it would stop RMT - not to mention how it would muddy the waters for one of the core principles of Path of Exile.
Michael would have spoken out more fiercely against the idea, but he was distracted with daydreams of taking a dive in Charan's money, Scrooge McDuck style.

I'm just playing. Charan would probably rather start a scholarship fund for formerly homeless American veterans than sully his hard-earned dollars with RMT.

I dunno, I got moderated earlier for speculating how to rmt safely, since people caught and actually banned just come back on another, not even hidden account.

Besides, a banned Ruler account would be an awesome chance for GGG to show they don't see financial support when dealing with rmt.

I would rmt to prove a point or two. I think GGG know it too.

hmm. not quite sure how to describe it, but i feel there's a big discrepancy between being banned even if you're a supporter because you thought you could get away with rmt and being banned even if you're a supporter because you wanted to make an example of yourself and ggg. like, the latter feels fake and contrived to the point where it would be ignored as an outlier to the data, an example that "doesn't count" because the result was brought about not by actual rmt but rather coaxing and bias.

Of course it's fake, but does that matter?

If it does, then can it be argued that intent actually makes a difference?

it would all depend on how you're trying to get yourself banned i suppose. if you rmt covertly and eventually get caught through a slip-up or somebody close to you reporting you, perhaps that would be justified. but if the rmt is ostensible to the point where it's flagrant "hey, look at me! i'm the ruler of wraeclast and i just bought this lioneyes, voltaxic, soul taker, legacy shavs at cheappoermt.com" then that wouldn't be a "fair" prosecution, sorta akin to "suicide by cop" i suppose.

Hmmm. Getting caught without seeming like I'm wanting to get caught may prove very challenging.

Are you seeing any of the irony yet?

Suicide by cop is still going to result in death, and probably a traumatized cop or two. I'd still have to be banned. And because GGG let banned people come back without even hiding the fact that they were banned, I could still just play on another account.

Two points still proven, even if the method is contrived.

I think you should take a break. You are taking a forum with a minimal amount of actual players way too serious, especially this silly RMT discussions. Just a friendly advice before making a martyr out of you for people who would not appreciate shit.

inb4 I took the bait. :P

Eh, this is mostly me dealing with the inability to play. The forum really is a poor substitute.

Still, it does miff me that banned people flaunt the ineffective nature of said bans by just changing accounts.

I can see this.

A safe way to circumvent "effectiveness" of a account change after a ban, they would need to ban persons without warning and delete all items traded to that account.

However I am fairly sure that they lock accounts "under investigation" already. Now and then there are some threads in technical support concerning this floating around. I don't know if they delete items on banned accounts but we would not be told anyway.
