Cold snap or Freeze mine, CC option for a flameblast build

Just curious which would be the better option for some light CC on a flameblast Build. I've never used either before and know there were some changes to mine so if anybody has any advice I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

decoy totem and shoot directly on the top of it with flameblast
Here's what I'm using to back up Flameblast:

With Deerstalker boots, it's effectively a 5-link Triple Cold Snap Trap. Each cast throws three traps in a line in front of you, and each trap triggers an individual Cold Snap. The cooldown on Cold Snap only affects your trap-laying rate - it does not prevent multiple Cold Snaps from triggering simultaneously.

With a large mob, Elemental Proliferation spread across three traps can freeze the entire crowd, and Temporal Chains makes it last 50% longer. That gives you plenty of time to channel Flameblast, or in my case, allow the Spell Totem to do it for me.

Using Multiple Traps and lowering Cold Snap's damage is just going to make the freeze duration lower, and possibly not enough to freeze at all.

Trap support gem completely bypasses Cold Snaps cooldown, the support gem has a 4 sec cooldown itself it's not Cold Snap's cooldown.

...Get better gloves and self cast a high level Temporal Chains.

I use cold snap with elem prolif and increased area effect on my flameblast character.

For more damage consider a single snap in a Trap. Two traps can freeze a room and perhaps for longer. At around level 18 I get 2.4k damage with just Trap, Cold Snap, Prolif, Conc Effect. Enough to freeze mobs up to map 70 for a few seconds depending on their resist of course.

This.. Ran this with my discharge ice spear witch.. This combo at higher levels freezes entire packs solid, except for rates.

Have you actually tried it, or just speculating on what you think might happen? The advantage of automation lies not so much in what it does, but what it enables you to do.
Here's my setup for Cold Snap with Flameblast.
Spoiler

Works like a charm and paired with Zombies as I rarely get hit while soloing. Normal mobs stay easily frozen for the entire duration of the cast, magic monsters for about half the cast. You can also Freeze rares if you manage to profilerate on them off the normal mobs.

Using Iron Will to up the damage as I've got around 270 str so it gives quite a significant boost... I wish it was 20% quality for even more damage :P

I dont really see the point of using it with Trap-support gem as it just adds a needless (though small) delay to the activation of the skill. And if I'm not mistaken it makes it do less damage (aka shorter freeze) as well?

If I can be bothered later on I'll try to 5/6-link the chest so I can get more links to the Cold Snap... That way I should be able to continue to Freeze stuff up even in higher maps. For 6-link I'd probably add Conc Effect and Q Added Cold Damage.

Trappers have more than enough time to cast curses, Temporal Chains on hit is just being lazy and not worth losing the stats you could have in that glove slot.

This is especially true for someone who has multiple Cold Snap traps laid out in front of them.

I've made 3 trappers so far, one Lvl 90, one Lvl 88 and one Lvl 40 in the making, I know from experience.
