Change how Attack targeting works
Currently performing an attack will almost always result in you moving and by extension, the enemy position on the screen will change requiring you to reposition your mouse courser.
Basically, if you click somewhere an enemy doesn't occupy then your character will move and the camera will follow you. So if you misclick just above an enemy that is above you then you will move towards the enemy causing the enemy to move closer toward the center of the screen (You) as you close the gap between yourself and the enemy, increasing the gap between the enemy and the original mouse courser position. This means the player has to reposition the mouse courser (From the top of the screen to near the center of the screen) in order to attempt to target the enemy again, and opens a window of opportunity to misclick again. My suggestion to resolve this control issue is to make it so that when attacking, the player will only move if they successfully clicked an enemy/interactive element and that the interactive element is out of range. If you misclick you won't move, if you click an enemy within range then you will also not move. This also has the added benefit of better differentiating the Walk Only option from the various Attack/Skill commands. You can probably add a toggle-able option to combine Attack/Skill commands with the Walk Only command for those used to the current system (Enable it by default for existing users to minimize the initial impact on the existing user base, maybe disable it for new users?) I am a firm believer that this simple change will alleviate most players demands for W, A, S, D movement as well as eliminate a tedious control quirk with the existing control scheme and greatly reduce the amount of mouse repositioning required by the player. ========== Constructive feedback on my suggestion is welcome. I am well aware of the Shift key and how it functions, my suggestion may end up rendering the need for the Shift key obsolete. This suggestion is mostly derived from my experience with playing as a Melee character in this game. Edit: There is an alternate suggestion made by another player that you can view here.
