Hey i just made a new build that is about bringing back the totem builds i have not seen anything like this on the forums so i decided to post it !

About
So this build uses the mines mechanic to boost your totem's damage by a lot ( ~118%), so here's how it works: The remote mine gem itself give 49% more damage to skills linked to it and we have another 69% mine damage in our skill tree so here's how you are gonna play :

- You Put Down 3 Mines
- Which Then Summons Buffed Totems
- Everything Dies


Pros:
*Does not Require Any Uniques
*High damage and Range
*Flexible
*Does Not Require Any Expensive Gems
*3 Totems
*7L With Soul Mantle
*Immune To Reflect
*Easy To Play

Cons:
*Cold damage / Freeze Can Be Dangerous
*CI Gear Can Be Expensive
*No Life Leech
*Not Very Flexible In Terms Of Auras
*20% Quality Gem Helps A LOT And Can Be Expensive




Levelling guide

- Just level with either Ice Nova OR Freeze Pulse

- Then continue leveling.

- Respec into CI if you have the gear or stay life if you dont have the gear.

- Then you grab all the crit nodes.


Alright so at first you will be just a normal sporker so your skill setup should look like something like this :
Gems

- 4L: Spark - Fork - Faster Casting - Spell Totem
- 5L: Spark - Fork - Faster Casting - Spell Totem - Crit Damage
- 6L: Spark - Fork - Faster Casting - Spell Totem - Crit Damage - Lightning Pen


Then once you start getting into the mine damage nodes you should swap some gems to include the Remote Mine support gem // NOTE: If you are really rich or extremely lucky and happen to have a Shavronne's Wrapping you will follow this gem setup.
Gems

- 4L: Spark - Fork - Faster Casting - Spell Totem
- 5L: Spark - Fork - Faster Casting - Spell Totem - Remote Mine
- 6L: Spark - Fork - Faster Casting - Spell Totem - Crit Damage - Remote Mine


Then finally you will want to get a Soul Mantle Unique Chest which gives you the ability to summon 1 additional totem and any gems into it will be augmented by a level 14 spell totem so basically you will have a 7L chest and 3 totems with this chest and its a pure ES chest which is perfect for our CI build. So after getting that chest piece you will swap spell totem.

Gems

- 4L: Spark - Fork - Faster Casting - Remote Mine
- 5L: Spark - Fork - Faster Casting - Crit Damage - Remote Mine
- 6L: Spark - Fork - Faster Casting - Lightning Pen - Crit Damage - Remote Mine


Off Gems

3L: Discipline - Clarity - Reduced Mana
4L: Ice Spear - Power Charge On Crit - Greater Multiple Projectiles - Faster Casting
4L: Cast On Damage Taken - Enduring Cry - Molten Shell - Temporal Chains
3L: Lightning Warp - Reduced Duration - Faster Casting
3L: Critical Weakness - Reduced Mana - Increased Area Of Effect

nice build, I've been thinking about level my witch and trying a totem build, what your end game like? ie. how you are with groups and solo maps you've completed?

i have not pushed this build into maps yet. but it should work just as a sporker but with more damage :)

So why no totem damage nodes?
since the trap does just summon a totem, is it considered "Trap-damage" or like the normal totems "spell damage"?

You took very few defensive nodes, intended to be a glass cannon? What is your plan on kiting big hitters or freeze mobs that eat totems in just a splitsec?

if you use Soul Mantle, you don't need to use the spelltotem gem for regular totem builds. If you put in the Trap gem, what happens? a Trap that summons a totem or a totem that summons traps? :))

first it uses mines, not traps so you put down 3 mines and you activate them and they all spawn totems, as for defensive with the int and es nodes you will be at around210% es which in my opinion is enough for a totem caster if you play carefully

How far have you progressed with this build? I wonder how this build can be played in endgame content as the mechanics of placing mines (dropping them at your feet) takes away a lot on the freedom (and speed) you have when placing totems. Will it work vs fast moving and stronger foes? Or do you run the risk of getting hit/killed before the totems are up?

i actually am leveling this build at the moment i tried it a bit on a lvl 70 sporker that i had and it was pretty good but i will post a video once i hit level ~60 and then when i hit maps.
