how to sustain righteous fire

i got 646 hp and 3200es with 75 fire res.

i followed an old build and according to that build ,i should be able to sustain the righteous fire . but failed
don't know what has changed. help =.=

Keep in mind you burn for ~70% of your life AND ~90% of your energy shield, if I recall correctly. It's best to use only life, it just makes it easier.

I'm not sure it's sustainable anymore after the change they did to it. Using old builds always means risk that they don't work with current patches.

I've used righteous fire after the patch though, but the trick for that have been drinking a ruby flask, activating the righteous fire, then do your damage ability (for me discharge), then drink a dousing flask when life leech starts ebbing.

Purity of Fire might help though, but not sure it would make it sustainable...

Its perfectly sustainable on a Pure life built without any es, an average ek marauder can sustain righteous fire if he uses blood dance shoes, he needs to pick up frenzy charge from bandits tho

Depends on how you define "sustain." It is quite helpful to use Ghost Reaver and the Life Leech gem.

Besides that, you can grab Elemental Adaptation for +2% max fire resist, Rise of the Phoenix unique shield for +8% max fire resist, and Purity of Fire for anywhere from +2% to +7% max fire resist (you get +4% at level 20 gem with no aura passives/no Alpha's Howl).

Having a ballpark of around 90% fire resist helps.

As does having the Vitality aura and/or a lot of regen from the tree.

On my ES-based RF EK Scion I pretty much "break even" (no regen or degen) when I have 6 endurance charges up and 3 frenzy charges up (due to Blood Dance Sharkskin Boots), no leech, and no Vitality.

Backwards. 90% life and 70% ES. That said, I do personally think it is still easier to use only life. This is because flasks are awesome and underrated.
