[1.0.0] Capture the Flag Speedster - Return of the ENIGMA ?

This is a theorycraft and has not yet been tested. It is intended for the event:

Capture the Flag.

Passives

Yatta ! Hello New York !

The idea of this build is to optimize the use of lightning warp, so that you can grap the enemy's flag faster than you can say Jack Robinson !

Lightning Warp PoE Wiki says:

The amount of time between the cast and resolution depends on the straight-line distance between the two points and player movement speed. If it would have taken 3 seconds to move straight from the position where the spell was cast to the teleport location, the teleport will take place after 3 seconds. x% increased Movement Speed will decrease the time between cast and actual teleportation. The Reduced Duration gem will also reduce the time between the cast and the actual teleportation.

So... first off the goal is to link Lightning Warp with Reduced Duration and Faster Casting. Hurr Durrr.

Good, now we need a shitload of movement speed. I got 47 % ms from passives, that seems okay - but I believe we need moar.

Browsing the Unique Item List from PoE Wiki one can find several ideal items for this build, find my choises in the gear section below.

Jump to gear section now.

One could opt to go for a frenzy build(since the nodes are close and some items have great synergy with frenzy charges).

Bandits:

Spoiler
Normal: Kill all (Or mana for lightning warp sustain). Cruel: Kill all. Merciless: Kill all (or Frenzy)

How we deal with the annoying snails on the opposing team:

Spoiler
Okay so obviously slowpoke 1 will try to stun you, slowpoke 2 will try to freeze and chill you, slowpoke 3 will set up traps, slowpoke 4 will.. you get the gist.

Luckily, we are the female Legolas of Wraeclast; Flegolas - and we can walk on snow.

Seeing as this is more of a flight than fight build, evading/dodging/blocking stuff is ideal.

Get dat dodge. Get super evasion. Get high block chance. Get avoid status ailments. Get reduced block recovery.

For instance, it is not possible to get Unwawering Stance (we have to evade everything) - Instead we get Heart of the Oak, 30 % chance to avoid being stunned.

What if they catch me, you say? well... surprise buttsex.

OR

for physical shit: Lightning Coil/Fairgraves and capped light res.

Have you thought about mana cost of Lightning Warp?

Spoiler
Yes.. well, thought about ! not sure whether or not it's sustainable.

Lightning Warp costs 51 mana at level 20. Mana cost multiplier for Reduced Duration and Faster Casting is 120 % each.

51 * 1.20 * 1.20 = 73.44 mana.

Wow, not so bad at all - of course I don't know how much it is possible to reduce Lightning Warp, but i'm guessing a lot.

This means one would need a pretty huge amount of mana regeneration. On top of that - jump to the aura section.

Notable nodes lacking in skilltree:

Spoiler

Shield Block Nodes: Testudo & Deflection

Mana & Mana Regeneration Nodes.

Auras

Spoiler
Haste (maybe overkill, but one should definitely be aiming at this imo)
Tempest Shield (4% Block Chance is 2 normal shield block passive nodes)
Clarity (If we have enough mana this is a must)
Level 1/20 % Quality Arctic Armor for ms boost and ice trail :P

This section is a potential problem because you one might not have enough mana and mana regen to sustain it.

If one does not care about dying - drop life nodes and use blood magic for auras.
Skills

Core Gems:

Spoiler
3L: Lightning Warp - Reduced Duration - Faster Casting

Empower could be a potential 4th gem. Empower mana cost multiplier is 125%.

The "fuck you, you caught me spell":

6L: Cast on Death - ? - ? - ? - ? - ?

Just a thought: What happens if we link these gems?

4L: Spectral Throw - Slower Projectiles - GMP - ?

Can you outrun the cloud of weapons ? :D

I haven't thought of anything solid yet.

Summary

Get high ms.

Get dat dodge.

Get super evasion.

Get high block chance.

Get avoid status ailments.

Get reduced block recovery.

OR

Go low life !

Movement speed from passives: 47%
Movement speed from gear if mana is not a problem: 85%
Movement speed from gear if mana is a problem: 75%
Movement speed from gear if we're using lightning res as physical mitigation: 45-55%
Movement speed from gear if we're using low life: 141-143%
Movement speed from Flasks: 70%
Movement speed from Arctic Armour: 7.5%
Movement speed from Haste(empower + bronn's): 10%

Movement speed range:

low: 45+47+7.5+10+70 = 179.5% ms
medium: 85+47+7.5+10+70 = 219.5% ms
high(low life): 143+47+7.5+10+70 = 277.5% ms

Question is if this gear even allows for high evasion or if low life will survive the first 3 warps.

Attribute Requirements(25% less if we're using Atziri's):

Dex: 153 ++ (Haste)
Str: 130ish ? (Reduced Duration)
Int: 151 ++ (Lightning Warp)

From Skilltree:

Dex: 400 (obviously not a problem)
Str: 50 (priority on rare gear)
Int: 50 (priority on rare gear)

Shavronne's revelation gives 75 int. Karui Ward 30 gives str, but I would go for Atziri's anyways.

This is the best CTF build ive seen so far... Definitely gonna make this!
Sounds interesting, but I think you might need more survivability. Super high evasion works against monster attacks, but what will you do when you come up against players who can't miss? I think you may need to get max block and spell block (since you can't evade spells either).

We played around with CtF enough to get the jist of how it works. You can't use any skills including movement skills while you have the flavor you drop it (though I don't think we specifically tried it with lightning warp). So, you'll have to get back to your base with pure movement speed and quicksilver flasks. Hopefully you won't desync too much moving that fast.

It's a good start. I was trying to come up with a PvP build but so far haven't put too much thought into it.

Yay, input !

I havenn't actually tried out CtF just yet, so I wasn't aware that you can't use movement speed skills while holding the flag. If this is the same case with lightning warp it kinda defeats the purpose of the idea - at least while holding the flag.

Yup, RT users will be a pain - thus we need to have reduced status ailments and stun/block recovery. You are right. Max block seems like the ideal. Will try to work around block nodes to achieve that.

Saffell's Frame on switch maybe or too risky?

Do you know of a thread that explains basics of CtF? I couldn't find one.

Thx in regard

Lol, just notice the autocorrect used the word flavor instead of flag, but at least you figured out what I meant.

I don't know of any CtF basics thread. Basically, when the correct number of people enter the queue, the game divides up the players randomly (it seemed to keep players in the same party together though). It puts you in a room with portals that go to the arena. Then your team tries to get to the other flag, grab it, and make it back to your base. If you get there and have both flags there, you win the game. I think a match was won by winning 3 games. We were mostly just checking it out and not geared or skilled for it. There were a couple people there that were better suited for it. Your flasks don't recharge (you never go to town and rarely kill things). We figured out minions were a bad idea cause it gave opponents things to leech off of and refill flasks. Traps were somewhat effective, but I don't think I killed anybody with them. One guy was using explosive arrow and he stayed defending his flag fairly successfully on an inside map. The arrows could be shot at walls around the flag so not limited to just hitting players. If you die you get to spectate one of your teammates for a short while before it respawned you back at the entrance room. Can't think of any more useful specifics about it.

The Saffells Frame shield would be ok if you were only facing spells, but that's not likely when you have 3 opponents to deal with. A better choice might be the shield that offers Like 40% spell block but keeps your attack block (name eludes me). Not sure if it would matter too much, but the boots or passive that gives 'enemies can't leech life from you' is something to keep in mind. Maybe a Cast on Damage Taken linked to Temporal Chains or Enfeeble might help.
