Anyone else reaching a plateau?
Hey guys,
first of all, let me say that GGG have done an amazing job, and that it's been quite while since a game was able to captivate me in the way that PoE did! I've spent endless hours leveling characters, creating builds and collecting items and it never seemed to get boring. In the past few days, however, I feel like I have reached some sort of plateau. I can't seem to enjoy the game as much as I did in the past and my motivation to keep playing is on a constant decline. Despite PoE being so awesome, I seem to subconsciously focus more and more on the boring and negative aspects. It's like the initial excitement of 1.0. and the thrill of new leagues and content is all gone. 9 out of 10 characters are some sort of spectral throw build. The top tier players have already accumulated more wealth than normal players will ever be able to get, while brain afk'ing through the hardest endgame maps on their streams. I haven't even progressed that far into the game yet. When Nemesis came out I played 2 characters that died in their 40ies, and right now I have reached Act3 merci, barely able to do lvl66 maps. So actually there is so much more content for me to explore! But for some strange reason I just don't feel like doing it. Last time I logged in, I cleared some monsters in docks and logged out after a few minutes. I also thought about joining a guild. That would actually open up more options to progress faster and explore the deeper aspects of the game. However, having real life obligations I don't feel ready to commit to a guild. Also, I am not the type of person who hangs out with his "internet friends" to play games. No offense, I just don't feel like committing to some sort of social life on the internet. So yeah, I feel like I have reached a plateau. Perhaps it's only temporary. It's a shame though, since PoE has so much to offer for everyone. Nothing wrong with that. What I love about PoE is that it is really easy to come back to. I will Plateau as you say, and drift of to another game for a month or so but will always come back to PoE and grind for a bit.

It happens sometimes. Either try something different like a completely new build or just take a break for a while. Just don't force yourself to keep playing even when you're not enjoying it until you turn into one of those people who makes a 3 page rage-filled rant about everything "wrong" with the game and saying that they quit and the game is dying and they hate GGG etc...but yet the next day, they're still here posting the same thing again.
As much fun as the game is, doing it or ANYTHING else too much will eventually get boring. |

This happened to me during the start of Open Beta, I was playing actively during the Closed Beta. I participated in a few races or so in the first season and one or two in the second(can't really remember), that gave me an incentive to play for a bit more, then I got bored of it again.
I stopped early in the Open Beta and decided to play again on release. Fortunately got back on release, loads of new content; new class, a few changes in the tree, a lot more skill gems, new act etc. So yeah, I pretty much got hyped and enjoyed the game again, playing everyday since release now. I'll probably get bored of it again. If that happens, I'll just wait for new content to rack up and then go back to the game. I'd say it's pretty normal, it happens to me in almost any game. Play this for a few months, get bored, move on and play another game, go back after a few months. It's just a cycle for me. Last edited by SenpaiTypeBeat#4068 on Nov 4, 2013, 4:53:32 AM
