I like the idea of more white gems. Your example seems a little extreme :P
What about a white skill gem which made the sockets next to it white, so any color gems could be socketed there. It's not a permanent change so you're sacrificing one slot to benefit another, potentially 2 others. |

I don't think it would be too over-powering, it'd mostly just let people take their support gems to higher levels.
Even at 50%, I don't think it would be too over-powering, people would be sacrificing a gem slot for it after all. If it needed to be taken down to 30% though, it'd still be something some players would find useful, like the Portal gem now. Some players would be desperate to get it, others couldn't care less because they want the slot for something else. -------------- I would also love to see a Wisdom gem, for identifying items. -------------- As for a gem to change the socket colors next to it, I can't see that being too useful personally, as chromatic orbs are fairly easy to get. A gem that changed the colours of adjacent sockets would be particularly useful for a handful of builds. Melee witch, as an example, who will struggle to get the masses of red/green sockets on blue armour, especially when there's a lot of them.
I don't dislike the lowered requirements gem either, could be cool. Last edited by DoubleSmiggins#7224 on Oct 18, 2012, 7:13:04 AM

Yes! More white gems please!
(still have never found a portal gem LOL) Reduced requirements would be an interesting gem as long as it only effected str/dex/int. Should have a high mana cost multiplier. I think having it effect level would be OP as it would be the same as increasing the power of the gem at the same level. A gem that turns other sockets in the item white doesn't sound too useful to me- can just burn some chromatic orbs to accomplish the same thing. IGN: Friar

I like the idea of a Reduced Requirements support gem. As long as it has a mana multiplier and doesn't effect level, only stats, it would be a great addition.

dunno about the reduced req gem.
but how about a white id item gem? Just make it so 20% quality makes it close to or instant IDing. Sick of selling portal scrolls and transmutes for more ids. Even picking up every wisdom scroll dropped I can't keep up with my rares. TOO MUCH MF QQ! Finished 17th in Rampage - Peaked at 11th
Finished 18th in Torment/Bloodline 1mo Race - peaked at 9th Null's Inclination Build 2.1.0 - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1559063 Summon Skeleton 1.3 - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1219856 |

1st world problems? :p
Thinking about another discussion where level requirement reduction has occured, even if it's rare it may create a liability for PvP. ...Well, you may be able to ban it from in PvP by making it in Da Rules. |

Updated the first post with more gems, altered the reduced requirement gem a bit and made it look neat.

Bump.
Any feedback on the updated list? I'm kinda curious what people think of attack/aura type white gems, it'd be kinda nice to have an attack that can fit any slot, I don't think it'd make it too overpowering either. Lost in a wonderful world of VGM covers.
