(Oct 20) Three-hour Solo Hardcore Ladder Race

Standard rules for league events apply. Please click this link if this is your first race event.

Duration: Three hours
Hardcore: Yes
Partying: No
Start time: 2pm NZ time, Saturday Oct 20 (6pm Friday Pacific Time).

There are three differences with this weekend's race:
  • Partying is not allowed - it's a solo event
  • The prizes for reaching specific level goals have been reduced by 33%. All other prizes are the same as last week.
  • It's a day earlier and at a different time. I can't run it at the normal time this week, sorry. I am also sorry that this time is very bad for Europeans. I will see what I can do about running a euro-friendly event in the next week or two.

Zomg he's nerfing the priiiizes!

Seriously though, we want to encourage placing somewhat more than "get to a specific level then stop" participation. I am also conscious of the economic damage being done this early in our new economies so we're experimenting by varying the prize structure.

I was going to suggest giving currency out regardless of your level based on how high you got, but then I realised you already did that : )

Another idea is giving X amount of currency items to the top X% of levels - so if X is 50%, and the highest level character is level 30 when the event ends, everybody level 15 and above receives prizes.
IRON MAN
I like that idea! tieing the minimum level for rewards to the actual % of toons at their respective levels.

You "should" end up with a standard distributio nof levels, therefore you can easily structure the rewards around the top %% of players and the above average players, and be able to work out how much currency is roughly going to be injected into the game.

ie the top 18% could receive you are frickin awesome prizes :)
the next 15% could receive you did good prizes.

That covers the top third of the players, which will all be high enough to make everyone race 1 toon as far and fast as they can to earn their reward.

Levels wise, this would cover down about 10-15 levels from the top, depending on the race.

note: i didn't actually do the math. The statistics are available on templeofexiles, and poestatistics, if anyone wanted to graph the results to show/disprove that the leel distribution will be a "normal" curve. Doing the plot should also give you the standard deviation and mean and median (assuming standard distribution).
really, a solo one again... !!! <3
WEEEE
gl everyone :)

(*evil laugh*)

edit: also some nice ideas about giving to top %. I would wonder if with such a system was done if it would then be changed to award a set amount, and then divvy it up among the ones that earn it, that would set a exact amount to go into the normal leagues, and would encourage competition to break to needed %, top 50, 25, 10, 5, or what ever is set for the levels. I could also make it so you don't get much even for doing good if there is a much larger amount then normal competing.

Anyway, keep testing prizes GGG, perhaps eventually well be able to get a lot more competition going, maybe have 4 or 5 groups competing for spots at the top in time instead of the normal one or two taking top in almost every class.
