Relying on alt+f4 to survive, is more likely to kill you than anything else.
This is so true. Softcore players don't understand this though, that's why they keep bitching about it.

Sorry but this is beyond stupid.
Alt F4ing is actively blocked in Sacred 2 because the game autosaves every time you die. In standard core this removes your survival bonus, and in hardcore perma deletes your character.
I cannot believe that you think that a game designed around being able to alt f4 to escape death can possibly be hardcore at all. Its simply cheating to avoid dying in a hardcore game, and players, and it seems the developers of PoE too actively abuse doing this and somehow believe it makes them better players.
You are beyond wrong about defending this rubbish mechanic, in a hardcore game death should be death. You shouldn't have options to simply avoid it like this and not lose your progress, otherwise what exactly is the point in having a hardcore mode?

no is forcing YOU to use it. If you want to stick by your hardcore ideals... go for it!
If your HC character dies, then delete him/her.
I don't get where you're coming from...again! Why do you care so much about how others choose to play?

Another softcore player who's not comfortable with others being able to call themselves hardcore :) I really think most of the resentment comes from the wording, softcorers feel inferior just because of it so they are trying to find something to diminish the 'hardcore'. Human nature.
GGG should just call softcore league hardcore and hardcore league babbycore to make the softcorers happy.

Implying any of the alt+f4 QQers actually play hardcore...

You all just don't understand the real utility of fast exiting a game.
Who played D3 of you sirs? i bet no one, in D3 there is a timer for exit of 10 seconds in ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. And for any circumstance, i refer to massive lag too.
Just go on D3 forums and watch all lag death, right there, once you lag (both client or server side) for more than 3 seconds, you are DEAD and you cannot defend yourself in any way, in ANY FUKKING WAY
Now please tell me both HC and SC players: do you want a 10 second timer on exit, forcing you to die by any lag (desync too), or you prefer a fast exit and avoid lag deaths?
I just can't imagine the uber QQing on these forums if a 10 sec timer is implemented: "OMG OMG i lag died fu GGG i want my pg back it's ur fault QQ QQ"
Think about it in a HC mentality maybe, i lost 2 times a PG in D3 due to lag, and i was fuking upset, i don't wanna lose other chars here for lag too.
Exactly this. Even with the system as it is I already lost a couple of chars to DCs (probably on my end, but can't change much about that atm). So I have withdrawn to Standard, and even there the two 80+ deaths I had were due to me getting a ping flatline, which is annoying enough. A logout timer would make every single DC outside of town a guaranteed death. Call me elitist, but I can only see players who play Standard and have no high level chars there embrace this idea. Everybody else loses hours or weeks that way.

"When a player disconnects or exits the game while in mid-combat (same mechanic as ES recharge timer), they incur an exp penalty/loss of 3%".
You still keep your character if you experience a DC/power-outage.
You can still avoid this by running away and porting back to town.
Exp penalty would discourage reckless play from high level players (regardless of SC or HC). Lets see how many people would bitch about this suggestion. ;)

I think this is a decent idea, it adds a cost to exiting the game. Wouldn't feel that cheesy anymore.

good idea, but if I paid 3% exp each time my client crashed - my main would be level 30 :D
still - assuming release will be technically stable - this really should be added to the game.
perhaps even upped to 5%.
