ARPG with Van Helsing

Port your game over to gog.com

Forget activations or malicious DRM - every game on GOG.com is 100% DRM-free. You buy it. You own it. 100% DRM-free.

DRM, also called copy protection, tries to control you and your games. We don’t believe in that - all of the games on GOG.com come without any DRM at all!

Download, reinstall, or backup without limits:

While you can always redownload your games off the GOG.com cloud, you can also install them on all your computers at home or back them up onto a DVD or spare hard drive. No limits!

Steam is DRM for sure (however developers can decide how deeply they want to implement that) , but it can provide huge amount of help to Indie companies like us.
Instead of something like Securom or those other stupid on disc DRM's, it's the one that actually probably benefits the customer as much as the publishers.

Oh and don't forget that not all Steam DRM is equal. Sometimes it's not much more than a download manager but sometimes it may contain third-party DRM, hardware or software.
- Steam DRM.
- No DRM, Steam is just a download and update service.
This seems to be fairly common but is extremely well hidden and only rarely advertised
- No Steam DRM, publisher adds their own DRM.

Just an FYI: even though PoE releases on Steam, you won't need to use Steam. You can still just use the normal Client without Steam integration.
Yes I know, I wasn't 100% clear, I should have written "available also on Steam"

One thing to add to the Thaumaturge: Combat feels a lot more.. impactful.
While Cleave was just.. well, I hit stuff, but it didn't feel awesome.. the skills you designed for that class dragged me into the battle way better than the standard Van Helsing did.
On our forum and on steam, many players "complained" about that. But when I can read things like you wrote, I feel like that we are on the right way. :)
from Forbes:

"...DRM hits customers that the company knows are paying for their game, and it risks turning those actual sales into lost sales. Byzantine DRM breeds apathy rather than excitement, and excitement is the best way to sell games in any sort of market."

Don't get me wrong. I think your game looks fun (from the youtubes I have watched) but unfortunately one I will never play as long as it is Steam only unless it is DRM free on Steam.

Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.

Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :(

Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt.
First, thanks :)

Second I don't want to turn this to a Steam DRM discussion. I can get your point, but we win more on Steam release, and we are in good relation with them. I don't have any further information about that, but I'm pretty sure, that even if I got i couldn't share it :)

Now compare the titles you mentioned, to all the games which were released in 2012 on Steam ;)
As I said, not so many as DRM haters describe.
So we released the Arcane Mechanic DLC which allows you to play a totally different kind of monster hunter, a specialist class. The Arcane Mechanic is the master of weird devices, just imagine a dwarf like monster hunter with the Van Helsing attitude, using deadly gadgets and occult machineries.

So if you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to ask, or just share your experiences.
PUT IT ON 66-75% OFF AND I BUY IT, OR GIVE ME A STEAM DISCOUNT VOUCHER FOR IT.

Hey,

As the day of Halloween is getting closer, we have to prepare for the waves of monsters. So here's the discount you mentioned, get ready and defeat them ;)
Fellow Hunters,

If you craved badly for Van Helsing but you wanted to try it out for free first, your chance has come. On the 20th of November, we will release a Van Helsing Demo pack for absolutely free!

In the demo, players can explore the wilderness of Borgovia with the Hunter, the Thaumaturge, or with the Arcane Mechanic to slay the hundreds of foes lurking in the forests.

Be the one who guides the young son of Professor Abraham Van Helsing to Markovna and through the monster-infested Croakwood to help him become a hero. Get ready, and prepare yourself to obliterate your foes with guns, swords, magic, or science!
Totally missed it cos not on the front page, doh.
