0.9.12 - Arrows will now be real projectiles

A visual difference would be okay, I just don't want random arrows appearing from it.

I do think it is going to make bow users a bit op though, PA + LA is already crazy strong.

I think the bow totem idea is a bit flawed. This is the first time that a pet skill is based upon a characters weapons. I really don't like the idea that the bow totem would take weapon damage from your bow. a) It stretches the imagination 2) gives bow uses sole access to a swathe of options.

I would recommend this alternative:

Add a special bow totem support that can take bow skills. This bow totem support will supply the base damage to the bow skills.

[edit: calling it a "dart totem support" might appease the conceptual issues. Also, it would be a pleasant reminder of D2 act 3]

Yeah, that makes a bit more sense and is imaginable, if bows are used to increase the damage, it gives bows users a big advantage.
Oh also, the new gem has to be called 'Bowtem'.
Well, totem gets 40% reduced damage as it is.

Also, in the case of Poison Arrow Totem (this would be the most used combination bar none by the way) the Poison Arrow cloud would not have its damage reduced by the totem modifier. The cloud doesn't scale off weapon damage either.
If arrows start working as true projectiles that can be dodged, I really, really, REALLY want to see a buff in arrow damage. And if arrows fly faster, they should retain their original DPH and the arrow speed by default should increase the damage of arrows.

My balance complaint is that a bow users could use spell totems if they keep up with INT reqs but a spell user couldn't use bow totems even if they keep up with dex requirements. I don't like the choice of weapon to have a snowballing effect like this.

I am not sure if the bow being the basis of arrow totems is a balance problem. It might if a lot of the mods proliferate (life steal etc.).

Yeah, let's take the variety of one ranged archetype out of the other ranged archetype!

*sigh*
How would bow/wand skill traps/totems be handled? Since traps/totems are spells, would bows and wands be improved by spell damage? Or, would they just simply be the same as if they were directly used by a player (simply using weapons damage), but with 40% less damage in the case of totems?
