Resist cap

Is there a cap for max resist? How do you reach the highest max resist possible.? The way i think of is use this shield plus a ele resist flask and use lvl 20 purity. Can get 75+5+10+4=94. Is it possible to go higher?

don't know what the new attainable max res cap is, but GGG made it so you can't get 100%

You also forgot the keystone Elemental Adaptation which will give you another 2(complete waste of a skill point IMHO)

75% (base) + 2% (Elemental Adaptation; pretty much an amazing bonus for 1 point) + 4% (Purity) + 10% (flask) + 5% (Saffell's) + 6% (Divination Distillate) = 102%.

I know 2% doesn't sound like a lot, but when you're at 75% resists and you move to 77% resists, you're actually taking 8% less damage, which is substantial.

Agreed it sounds like a lot, but the reference point is what matters. If you are at 98% and you go to 99% that's a 50% damage reduction which sounds huge, but overall its no where near that large of a benefit. If you are in that area of the tree anyways it can't hurt to spend the 1 point to get this, but I personally would not spend any points to "get" there in order to take this ever since they dropped it from 5%.

Question:

With my Gear and my given Skill Points I´ve got like 120% elemental resistance. Of course my elemental resistance caps since 10 levels at 75%

Now to the question:
Is every skill point which I now spend on additional elemental resistance totally wasted?

Another question:
Is there a way and if so how exactly can I increase the cap? Is there a passive point somewhere or even more than one? What is the exact name?

Searched the Forum could answer my question therefore.

First:
Yes every Skill Point is wasted by now, on cruel difficulty. But as soon as I enter Merciless the cap will fall down under 75% and I will make good use of the now wasted Skill Points.

Second:
There are several ways to increase the cap.
Auras
Flask
The passive skill "Elemental Adaptation".

There still remains one question:

Is "Elemental Adaptation" the ONLY passive skill to increase the Elemental Resistance Cap???
